Rich Homie Quan’s father, Corey Lamar, recently gave an interview to Atlanta news station WSBTV, and revealed that the rapper was working on a new project, which was about to be released soon. During the interview, Rich Homie Quan’s father, who was also his manager, revealed that the rapper had finished a 20-25 song project.
Speaking to WSBTV journalist Michael Seiden, Lamar said:
“We had just completed a 20- or 25-song project and we were in the process of scheduling two video shoots off our project.”
The father of the deceased rapper also claimed that Quan had collaborated with 2 Chainz and Plies. Adding how the rapper had recorded thousands of songs and stashed them away, the father mentioned:
"Quan has probably over 2,000 unreleased songs. But once he gets in a mode to record those songs become old to him. And when they become old he wants to focus on the new stuff. He has a catalogue in the vault. He has a ton of music that the fans need to hear.”
Rich Homie Quan was found unresponsive by his long-time girlfriend, Amber Williams, on September 5, 2024. Paramedics arrived at his house after Amber called 911, and he was declared dead after being shifted to the Grady Memorial Hospital. The cause of his passing away has not been revealed yet, and an autopsy was done on September 6, 2024, to determine the cause.
“We spoke several times a day”— Corey Lamar talks about bond with son Rich Homie Quan, as rapper passes away
During his interview with WSBTV, the father of the rapper revealed how the two shared a “special bond,” as they always kept in touch, and spoke multiple times daily. He said:
"We spoke several times a day. The day before he passed, I looked at my phone and we spoke like 11 times. We had a special bond. I grew up without my father, so I knew if I were going to have kids, I was going to be in their lives."
Rich Homie Quan's sudden passing left fans, friends, and the family of the rapper shocked and devastated. Soon after his passing away, Corey Lamar, the rapper’s father, released a statement on his Instagram stories and said:
"Unbearable pain. Lord please please please help me to understand this. To lose my son... my 1st born, my best friend. Lord let this be a dream.... Yall pray for me and my family. I feel like I'm crushed into a million pieces."
On the other hand, not just Corey Lamar, but Rich Homie’s longtime girlfriend, Amber Williams also expressed how she had been left “traumatized” after his passing. In an Instagram story, Amber stated:
“The pain is unbearable. The love you all have shown is an over flow. I truly appreciate everyone who’s reached out. I’m traumatized from a moment that’ll forever be in my head. I have nothing to prove because my love for my other half was ALWAYS shown. I had nothing to hide.”
Stating how the two had been dating for the last 15 years, she continued:
“Please respect me and my family at this time. Our house is no longer a home. I’m completely heartbroken. 15 years gone. I’ll never be the same. This is a complete nightmare. We never could let go, but you didn’t have to leave me like this.”
Amber, 33 years old, was not only Rich Homie Quan’s girlfriend but also the mother of his two kids. The two have been together for more than a decade and a half, and had been living together.
On the day of the rapper’s passing, an audio clip went viral where Amber can allegedly be heard talking to the 911 dispatchers, claiming that the rapper never came to bed the previous night.
She alleged that she found Rich Homie Quan unresponsive when she came back home after dropping the kids at school. Amber also informed the 911 operator that he was foaming at his mouth, and that she was not able to hear any heartbeat.
Quan is survived by his longtime girlfriend, and his four kids, two of which he shared with Williams, while the other two were born out of his previous relationships.
