"We have been wanting this for years"- Fans erupt as Drake and PartyNextDoor announce new collab album for Fall 2024

Drake has recently confirmed that he will collaborate with PartyNextDoor on a new album. The announcement was made in Toronto during the Party and Friends show by the latter on August 2, 2024, and it has led to a lot of excitement among the duo's fans.

Notably, the Breakaway star was one of those who performed at PartyNextDoor's latest event and he teased the collaborative project. He said:

"I know all you girls are outside and when it gets a little chilly, PartyNextDoor and Drake album will be right there for you."

Apart from this announcement, the 37-year-old also performed the single Come and See Me, a collaborative single with PartyNextDoor that came out in 2016. The Charlie Bartlett star even performed on his songs such as Sweeterman, which was never officially released despite being leaked in 2015.

Meanwhile, the moment of Drake announcing a new collaborative album with PartyNextDoor has gone viral on different platforms. The album is expected to arrive in the fall of 2024, as hinted by Drake.

Netizens took to the comments section of an X post (formerly Twitter) shared by NFR Podcast with a video of the rapper's announcement to react to the news. One of the reactions also reads:

"We have been wanting this for years."

Users even addressed their excitement for the collaboration in the replies.

"I cannot believe this happening," one X user wrote.
"This is what we been waiting for… we will be listening," another X user wrote.
"I used to pray for times like this," one fan wrote.

However, a section of the public was seemingly not thrilled by the collaboration.

"I speak for everyone we don't want this," one netizen said.
"PartyNextDoor can't save Drake's career, that's all I'm saying," another person said.

Meanwhile, the fans additionally praised the best things about the anticipated upcoming collaboration.

"This is one of the better cards he could've pulled," one fan said.
"Poppin out with his best writer," another fan stated.
"This should be good tho," another person stated.

Drake and PartyNextDoor have shared a close friendship over the years

While PartyNextDoor's upcoming album with Drake is getting a lot of public attention, Drake had seemingly hinted towards the project last month through social media. On the occasion of PartyNextDoor's birthday on July 3, 2024, the 6ix Rising star shared an Instagram Story with a photo featuring Party alongside a quote. It read:

"More life to the late night serander 6 side sound creator owl gang crusader melodies that persuade her baby making music to put her in labour none greater @partynextdoor stay tuned real soon."

PartyNextDoor's debut project was his self-titled EP which came out in 2013 and he joined Drake's record label OVO Sound the same year. Apart from releasing other major projects, the 31-year-old also collaborated with Drake on different occasions.

Back in July 2017, PartyNextDoor appeared for an interview with Nardwuar the Human Serviette, revealing more details on how he and Drake became close over the years. PartyNextDoor stated at the time that he first met the Sophie star in Toronto in 2012.

He even addressed his career with OVO Sound, saying that it was producer Jordan Evans who helped him a lot. He added:

"He was an old producer of mine, of a lot of old music that never got released. He got my music to Boi-1da, then it was Oliver [El-Khatib], and then Drake."

Drake's last album, For All the Dogs, was released last year and reached the first spot on the US Billboard 200. On the other hand, PartyNextDoor's latest album, PartyNextDoor4, came out on April 26, 2024, and received positive feedback.
