What did 50 Cent say about Desiigner? Rapper drops diss track over recent podcast remarks

American rapper and singer Desiigner has recently targeted his fellow rapper 50 Cent in a new diss track after the latter revealed the reasons for not signing him to G-Unit in the past. The In da Club singer appeared on a podcast on September 1 and shared that back in 2016 he had an opportunity to sign Desiigner.

However, he decided against it because he felt that the young rapper did not have any music ready, despite the success of Desiigner's debut single Panda.

In response to this comment, Desiigner shared a diss track video that he initially shared on Instagram on September 3, 2024. In the now-deleted clip, the Grammy-nominated artist was sitting inside his car as he read the verses on his phone.

In the diss track titled, “Response back to 50 Cent - POV: Another HIT", Desiigner mentions getting signed by signed to Kanye West's GOOD Music label and raps:

"N*ggas talking that 50 Cent, I be talking 50 mil. I got signed to Kanye, lil n*gga, you was never worth a deal."

After sharing this video, the Brooklyn-based rapper continued to defend himself on his Instagram. He argued that while he may not have a string of hit songs, but his live performances prove his skills.

“I might not have had every record that went diamond, but come to my shows and see how I activate the crowd,” he said.

He also mentioned that he is one of the very few rappers from New York City who have achieved diamond or platinum certification. Referring to his superhit song Panda, Desiigner wrote:

I'm one of the few artists in New York City out of Bed-Stuym Brooklyn to go diamond. And people over here trying to judge me for a diamond record."

During his interview on Million Dollaz Worth of Game, 50 Cent explained his decision of not signing Desiigner and said:

"I met with him before he did the deal with Kanye and them. I had him at the office, 'Yo, let me hear other records,' and I'm like, 'That's it?' And the sh*t was so hot that he had it, I was struggling. I was like, 'Nah, I can't give that ni**a that money. Let them give them what they gonna give ’em."

Desiigner opens up on the flight incident that happened last year

The Billboard Music Awards winner was involved in a legal issue in April 2023 when he was charged on one count of indecent exposure in a public place. The charge emerged out of an incident where he reportedly exposed himself inside a flight.

Desiigner was reportedly found m*sturbating by a crew member. He allegedly continued exposing and had to be shifted to the back of the plane. The artist has denied these accusations. He opened up about the incident in an interview on the No Jumper podcast in July this year, saying that he had no idea of what he did and added:

"I was fully tweaked out of my mind. This was when I was vegan, I didn't have enough sugars and stuff like that … I was kind of, like, out of my body."

He revealed that he had mushrooms before entering the plane since he had been following a vegan diet since the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, he claimed in the conversation that the flight incident had nothing to do with his character and said:

"It really wasn't who my character was. I was on medication and just went to sleep on the plane."

Desiigner also disclosed that while he was being investigated for the incident, he was worried that the rest of the world would consider him to be a "pervert." Notably, soon after the incident, the rapper had shared a statement on his Instagram story saying he was ashamed. He also said he was enrolling in a facility for further help and canceled his upcoming shows.

So far the rapper has released two albums in his career, that includes New English and L.O.D. He is also a recipient of awards like the MTV Video Music Award, BET Hip Hop Award, and more.
