A woman filed a lawsuit against American rapper T.I. and his wife Tiny, alleging that the two s*xually abused her in a hotel room in 2005. However, the judge has since dismissed the assault case.
On Thursday, August 8, the couple found out that the lawsuit, which was filed in March by the unnamed woman, had been dismissed by the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
According to a court document obtained by USA TODAY on Friday, August 9, the duo had requested the dismissal of the case, and U.S. District Court Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett approved it the same day.
The woman had accused T.I., real name Clifford Harris, and his wife, Tameka Harris, often known as Tiny, of drugging and r*ping her after meeting at a nightclub in Los Angeles in 2005. She also charged them with assault, carelessness, false imprisonment, and purposeful cause of emotional distress.
The lawsuit against T.I. and Tiny has been dismissed: Details explored
Rapper-singer couple T.I. and Tiny have been facing a s*xual assault lawsuit for some time. According to the court records obtained by Billboard, the case was filed in a Los Angeles court on Tuesday, December 2, 2023, by an anonymous lady, identified by the authorities as Jane Doe.
However, due to the case being outside of the 10-year statute of limitations, the LA County district attorney's office decided not to press charges against the musicians, ending the inquiry in September 2021.
The couple also requested that the case be transferred to a federal court in California at the end of March. On August 8, the judge dismissed the claim. The statute of limitations for Doe's claims expired more than 16 years ago, according to the couple's attorneys, as stated in their request for dismissal.
T.I. and Tiny's agents told XXL about the case:
"The court agreed with Tip and Tameka that Jane Doe doesn’t appear to have any viable claims. As Tip and Tameka stated three years ago, these allegations are some of the many false, salacious allegations thrown out into the media in a cheap attempt to extort money from them."
They further added:

The couple has been facing the lawsuit for many years. The case was filed by U.S. Air Force veteran, identified as Jane Doe, under California's S*xual Abuse and Cover-Up Accountability Act in Los Angeles Superior Court.
In a 2021 interview with The New York Times, the woman shared her story of the alleged attack and its aftermath. In the same year, she threatened to file a lawsuit and eventually did the same.
In the filing, she alleged that she was served a tainted cocktail when she first met the couple in a nightclub's VIP area.
The woman alleged that after drinking the allegedly spiked drink, she went back to the hotel with the couple and later fainted. She then said that when a security guard woke her up the next day, she experienced pain in her body.
After the lawsuit was filed, T.I. refuted the allegations. In a January 2023 statement reported by the New York Times, the rapper said:
"Our position is clear. We are innocent of these fake claims, we will not be shaken down, and we look forward to our day in court."
Nevertheless, the couple or their representatives didn’t say anything else about the entire thing.
