After the hotel surveillance footage capturing Diddy allegedly assaulting Cassie Ventura went viral, the clip of him thanking Ventura at the 2022 BET Awards speech has resurfaced. Tiffany Red, who has been a friend of Ventura, spoke to Rolling Stone and said that the words said in the speech, felt like "taunts" coming from the rapper's mouth.

Red said,

"It’s like harassment. You’re still f*cking with her — leave her alone. Leave her the f*ck alone."

During the 2022 BET Awards, the rapper expressed gratitude to Ventura for supporting him in his dark phases of life. He then began his speech with,

"Anything I do is through God. Anything I do is through love. That’s what I evolve to be. And that’s what I’m doing right now."

Combs further said,

"I’mma keep it a hundred with y’all, I was in a dark place for a few years. And also Cassie for holding me down in the dark times. Love."

These lines were revisited when Ventura first came up with the allegations against Diddy, and then against when the hotel footage of the assault was released by CNN.

Cassie's friend Tiffany Red explained that Diddy's speech at the 2022 BET Awards felt like "taunts" and "harassment"

Amid the recent revelation by Rolling Stones, the 2022 BET Awards speech of Sean "Diddy" Combs is being revisited. In the speech, he thanked Cassie Ventura, whom he was seen assaulting in the footage that dated back to 2016. After the footage has resurfaced, Diddy is getting called out for his contradicting actions. Recently, in the Rolling Stone exposé, Tiffany Red shed some light on the speech.

According to her, the words felt like harassment back then. Red was one of the many people who were interviewed by Rolling Stones, as a part of the six-month-long investigation against the rapper. Red added that while Combs was announcing her pregnancy, Ventura was negotiating with Bad Boy Records. She further added that Ventura was in extreme distress in the phase.

According to Tiffany Red,

"It’s not like we were negotiating with just her record label. We were negotiating with her abuser."

Rolling Stone reported that Bad Boy Records, the company originally founded by Combs, was supposed to release ten albums of Ventura in 2006, however, only one was dropped. The rapper allegedly attempted to bind Cassie's separation agreement to a non-disparagement clause. While revisiting the 2022 award speech where the rapper also thanked his mother and Notorious B.I.G., netizens have also reacted to it.

One user took to X, and wrote,

"Remember in 2022 when Diddy thanked Cassie for “holding him down through the dark times" knowing he abused her? This is so disrespectful on so many levels."

Another tweet read:

"In hindsight, Diddy shouting out Cassie at the BET awards is DIABOLICAL."

Many women have used Diddy for his alleged abuse of them in the past

Rolling Stone reported that Ventura allegedly admitted herself in a rehab, after sustaining "physical and psychological repercussions" for the time she was with Combs. Since Ventura's lawsuit, several women have come forward to talk against Diddy and claimed that he had abused them.

Music producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones sued the rapper and claimed that Diddy forced him to "solicit s*x workers and perform s*x acts to the pleasure of Mr. Combs." After the 2016 hotel footage was released, Sean Combs posted an apology video on Instagram, which further backfired on him.

In the apology video, Combs blamed his mental health and claimed that he was in bad shape back then. He further apologized for his actions, however, did not particularly take Cassie Ventura's name. Multiple sources that were familiar with the 2023 settlement agreement between Ventura and Diddy revealed they were prohibited from mentioning each other's names.

Later, Ventura took to Instagram to post a statement where she thanked people for extending support to her. She further urged that people believe in survivors the first time they come out and speak about their experience.

The recent Rolling Stone exposé has garnered immense attention from people, including the netizens. Several people, including Diddy's batch mates from college, had claimed that he allegedly had abused people even then. According to the report by the outlet, several co-workers of Bad Boy Records were disappointed with the rapper.

Apart from Cassie Ventura, three other women spoke about their allegations against Combs. These women include Crystal McKinney, Joi Dickerson-Neal, and "Jane Doe." Jane Doe accused Combs of s*xually assaulting her when she was only 17 years old.

While so many women have come forward, Sean Combs has not accepted or admitted to the allegations.
