Tina Knowles is setting the record straight about her defending her daughter Beyoncé. Earlier this week, Dolly Parton seemingly noted that she did not find it peculiar that the popstar’s Cowboy Carter album was not nominated at the Country Music Association (CMA) Awards. Later, reports suggested that Knowles clapped back at Parton, which has now been debunked.

In an interview with Variety that was published on September 17, Dolly Parton opined on Beyoncé’s country music-centric Cowboy Carter album not being nominated for a CMA Award. Parton stated that she did not believe that Beyoncé was snubbed.

Parton said:

“Well you never know, there’s so many wonderful country artists that I, guess the country music field, they probably thought, ‘Well, we can’t really leave out some of the one’s that spend their whole life doing that.’”

Following Parton's comment going viral, a reportedly fake screenshot, suggesting that Tina Knowles clapped back at Parton by defending Bey's country roots, went viral online.

Tina Knowles takes to Instagram to call Dolly Parton clapback “fake”

A screenshot of a comment supposedly made by Tina Knowles on Instagram spread rapidly across the internet on September 19. In the same, Knowles wrote that the Single Ladies crooner has “country roots” and applauded her work ethic, saying that she deserved to be nominated for the award.

Knowles’ alleged comment read:

“Oh Ms. Dolly, we love you, but Bey did spend her WHOLE life workin’ hard, since she was 9! She got country roots too. She’s mastered her craft and broken records in EVERY genre. So sayin’ she didn’t “spend her life” in country music dismisses all that work she put in. Bey don’t need to stay in one lane to get respect- her talent and work ethic speaks for themselves.”

As the screenshot went viral with gossip page The Neighborhood Talk also reporting on the same, Tina Knowles took to the comment section of the post made by the aforementioned page to note that the comment was “fake.” Tina Knowles said:

“This is fake not from me !”

However, Tina Knowles had taken to Instagram earlier this year to speak about her family’s cowboy roots. While sharing an image of Beyoncé in cowboy attire, Knowles wrote online:

“I actually laugh because it’s been there since she was a kid, we went to rodeos every year and my whole family dressed in western fashion. Solange did a whole brilliant Album and Project based on Black Cowboy Culture. @. It definitely was a part of our culture growing up.”

Beyoncé put out her Cowboy Carter album in March after having an ill experience at the CMA Awards in 2016. The musician had performed her country track Daddy Lessons at the event, alongside the Dixie Chicks, who now call themselves The Chicks. Despite receiving immense praise, Ms. Carter was also met with boos from the crowd. Speaking about creating the album, Bey said in an Instagram post:

“The criticisms I faced when I first entered this genre forced me to propel past the limitations that were put on me. act ii is a result of challenging myself, and taking my time to bend and blend genres together to create this body of work.”

Meanwhile, it is worth noting that Parton appeared on multiple Cowboy Carter songs, with Bey also remaking her signature hit song, Jolene.
