Last Friday, Kendrick Lamar surprise-dropped his sixth studio album, GNX, fueled by iconic West Coast productions, credited to Sounwave, DJ Mustard, and more. While the LP was filled with both abstract and personal records, one track seems to have garnered more attention than others.

Kendrick Lamar screaming "MUSTARD" at the start of Part 2 of track 7, titled tv off, has taken the internet by storm, with several creators uploading memes and reactions to the fun shout-out across social media platforms.

Given the synonymous relationship between hip-hop music and basketball, the TNT studio show Inside The NBA usually plays snippets of trending rap music during its broadcast. The show is hosted by Ernie Johnson, alongside Hall of Famer Charles Barkley and NBA champions Kenny Smith and Shaquille O'Neal.

During the November 27 broadcast of the NBA Cup, where the Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Phoenix Suns, former basketball player, Jalen Rose, appeared as a special guest on Inside The NBA's halftime show.

The show opened with a viral snippet of tv off playing over the speakers. Shaq humorously mimicked Kendrick's scream, before Jalen seemingly poked fun at the ongoing legal situation between Drake and UMG, stating:

"I don’t know if y’all should be playing that Kendrick. You don’t wanna get a lawsuit up in here."

With media outlets like NFR Podcast, reposting clips from the halftime show on platforms like X (formerly Twitter), users were found retweeting Jalen's statement when poking fun at the OVO CEO.

"Shaq was yelling “Mustaaaaard!” and Jalen Rose said “I don’t know if y’all want to be playing that Kendrick, y’all might get a lawsuit”. Drake is really the butt of jokes everywhere now," a user remarked.
"Man why they clowning Drake on Inside The NBA? Jalen Rose said you better watch it playing that Kendrick, you gonna get a lawsuit," an individual tweeted.
"Drake’s reaction when he heard the song and Jalen’s comment", a user posts a gif of Drizzy courtside at an NBA game.

More reactions followed in the comment section of BigBizTheGod's repost of the NBA halftime show.

Users were found referencing moments from the 2024 rap beef, where Drizzy and Kendrick Lamar went back-to-back, dropping multiple diss tracks against each other at the start of May.

"2024 got Drake in to a full time meme," a user stated.
"“Lawsuits don’t scare us”... Nah, they really just called Aubrey a h-e," a user claimed quoting Ernie Johnson's response to Jalen Rose.
"Drake is really getting destroyed this year holy s--t," added another.
"What a Time to be Alive as a Drake Hater, 2024 has given us everything and more. Hoping 2025 gives us more blessings," a critic chimed in.

Kendrick Lamar’s GNX projected to go No.1 on Billboard 200

According to a report from music news publication, HitsDailyDouble (HitsDD), Kendrick Lamar will reportedly secure his fourth consecutive No.1 album with GNX, this week.

The publication suggests that Kendrick's 12-record LP has sold over 291,000 album-equivalent units and has generated "325 million on-demand audio streams," since its release on November 22, 2024.

HitsDD broke down the streaming numbers, claiming that because of the album's shorter tracklist when compared to 2022's Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, Kendrick Lamar's GNX generated close to 27 million streams on each song.

The rumored projections also reflect "Wicked's Soundtrack" album coming in at No.2, with an estimated sale count of 80,000 physical album sales. Given that Billboard updates its music charts every Thursday, HitsDD's estimated projects likely reflect margins of error in sale calculations.

While HitsDD's reports are to be considered unofficial, the online attention Kendrick Lamar generated with GNX's rollout does place the album as a top contender for Billboard 200's No.1 spot, next week.

Currently occupying the No.1 spot on Billboard's album charts is ATEEZ's new mixtape GOLDEN HOUR: Part 2, which was released to streaming services on November 15.

Linkin Park's new album From Zero debuts at No.2, with Tyler, The Creator's eighth studio LP, Chromakopia, holding a strong position at No.3.
