Bad Bunny’s recent song DTMF has left the masses wondering the real meaning behind the acronym. DTMF stands for "Debí Tirar Más Fotos" in Spanish, which translates to "I should have taken more photos" in English. The song, released by the Puerto Rican rapper on January 5, 2025, is the title track of his sixth studio album of the same name.

The track, which has gone viral on TikTok, consists of emotional lines, as Bad Bunny remembers his loved ones and states how he should have taken more pictures with them. As per Just Jared on January 13, while Bad Bunny sings in Spanish, the lyrics translate to:

“Wanting to go back to the last time that I looked into your eyes/ And to tell you the things I didn't get to tell you/... I should've taken more pictures when I had you/ I should've given you more kisses and hugs whenever I could/ Ayy, I hope my people never move away/ And if I get drunk today, I hope they help me out/ I should've taken more pictures when I had you.”

Furthermore, Bad Bunny has been vocal about his new track DTMF and even spoke about the change in the importance of photos in his life, in an interview with The New York Times published on January 5, 2025. In the interview, Bunny stated:

"I remember back in time photos used to be something very special. Today you can take a picture of everything. Maybe sometimes I don’t want a picture with someone for many reasons: Maybe I’m not in my best mood. Sometimes I feel that maybe this person is not a real fan. And also because maybe I got used to it and it’s not a special moment for me."
