Rapper 50 Cent recently appeared for an interview with Billboard on October 22, 2024. He shared a few details related to the advice he gave to Drake after the Canadian rapper had a beef with Kendrick Lamar earlier this year. Notably, Drake and Lamar released multiple diss tracks targeted at each other's lives at the time.
The last track released during the dispute was Not Like Us by Kendrick Lamar and while Drizzy did not respond to the track, many people considered Lamar as the winner of the battle.
While speaking to Billboard, 50 Cent recalled telling Drake that he should not take the beef to heart and focus on the positives. The Big Rich Town hitmaker shared:
"On some real sh*t, I said, 'They said you lost, okay. Well what did you lose?' What exactly did he lose, if he got $300 something million on his last tour? You didn't lose a motherf*cking thing, man."
Kendrick Lamar and Drizzy shared a close friendship years ago until they had a beef. The problems started with the release of the latter's collaborative single with J. Cole, First Person Shooter, which came out in October 2023. Lamar responded to the duo on Metro Boomin's single Like That in March this year.
While Drizzy also replied to the diss during one of his tours the same month, he started by releasing two diss tracks, Push Ups and Taylor Made Freestyle, in April 2024. Kendrick responded with a single, Euphoria, and this was followed by a lineup of more songs like 6:16 in LA and Family Matters.
50 Cent speaks up on the beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar in the interview
During his latest conversation with Billboard, 50 Cent said that he told Drake to keep his "creative energy" at the correct spot and continue doing the same. He addressed the same by stating:
"You gotta figure out how to keep pushing, how to keep creating because that's what it feels like to you at the moment. That sh*t was good for Hip Hop. It made both of them create quality material faster."
Curtis additionally referred to Drizzy and Kendrick Lamar's beef by saying that when the problems began, he was supposed to take the latter's side due to his "association with Dre". He added that he has a lot of love for Lamar but also expressed support for the Hotline Bling rapper.
"I didn't see where what [Drake] did was wack at any point. They giving [Drake] the, 'Oh, you wack, you finished.' I'm like, 'Nah, come on.' That's the system trying to make some sort of resistance, and it's from the consistency. When you win consecutively, that part of the Hip Hop demographic wants you out of there."
The veteran rapper even addressed the allegations that Drizzy and Lamar leveled against each other, saying that an individual becomes vulnerable while becoming defensive.
Meanwhile, the two rapper's beef would be featured in a documentary titled Public Enemies: Kendrick v Drake. The news was first revealed by Deadline on October 8, 2024, and a release date is yet to be confirmed for the same.
