What happened to Ayres Sasaki? Brazilian singer dies of electrocution during live on-stage concert

Brazilian singer Ayres Sasaki died on July 13, 2024, after being electrocuted on stage. He was 35 years old at the time of death, and was performing at the Solar Hotel in Salinopolis when the incident happened. Apart from his singing career, Sasaki gained recognition for his work as an architect and urban planner.

Ayres met a fan during his performance who asked for a hug. The latter was wearing clothes that were completely wet and Sasaki suffered a shock due to an electrical cable near them, which eventually led to his demise.

An investigation has been launched by the Civil Police of Brazil into Ayres Sasaki's death, to find more details, including how the fan ended up getting wet. Solar Hotel also paid tribute to Ayres in a statement to The Sun, which reads:

"We are fully dedicated to providing support to his family and taking the necessary measures. We reaffirm our commitment to fully cooperating with the competent authorities for the proper clarification of the events."

On the other hand, Sasaki's family members have refused comments as they mourn his loss, and until new details emerge from the ongoing investigation. While speaking to the local media, Ayres' aunt Rita Matos also confirmed the same and continued:

"What we know is that his show was scheduled for a specific time and was moved up, but we are contacting people who were with him at the moment to understand how everything happened."

He is survived by his wife Mariana N. Sasaki and further details about his personal life are currently awaited.


Ayres Sasaki was a resident of Belem and was active on social media

While a lot of details about Ayres Sasaki's early life remain unknown, he was living in Belem for many years. He gained recognition among the public as the "king of encores" since he would perform frequently for 12 hours. He tied the knot with his wife, Mariana, in 2023.

Mariana's Instagram page says that she is currently working as a humanized ear piercing and breastfeeding consultant. While she is active on the platform with more than 5,000 followers, the account is set to private.

Ayres was additionally serving as an architect and urban planner. His Instagram bio says that he was an urban architect for the Municipality of Aurora do Para. He accumulated more than 8500 followers on the page and shared several photos and videos.

One of the posts also featured glimpses of Ayres Sasaki's wedding with Marianna. He shared a post back in May last year where he was posing alongside his mother and the caption, after being translated to English, reads:

"Happy to know that the best person I know in the world is my mom. Happy Mother's Day @harumi.matos1 mom."

Sasaki's friend and singer Adriano Freitas also recalled his work as he spoke to the local media, describing him as the "best singer and guitarist in Belem." He further stated:

"A great friend, very family-oriented, attentive to his friendships, and to those who appreciated his work."

As aforementioned, Ayres Sasaki's death is being investigated by the authorities, and more details are expected to be disclosed in the upcoming days.
