Kid Cudi performed in the Sahara tent at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on Sunday, April 21. The rapper was slated to perform between 5:10 pm and 5:50 pm as part of the Weekend Two lineup. During his performance, he sadly twisted his ankle while attempting to jump off of the stage. Videos of the same have since gone viral online.
On April 22, X user @doofinc_ was one of the many who took to social media to share a video of Kid Cudi performing at Coachella. In the video, the musician could be seen attempting to jump off the stage. However, he ended up taking a tumble and rolling onto the ground. The 40-year-old was momentarily seen wincing in pain.
Videos of him tripping off the Coachella stage have since amassed millions of views online.
Later, the singer, whose real name is Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, was seen being escorted away by two men as he was unable to put his weight on his leg.
The Cudi Zone singer was yet to perform one and a half songs; however, his biggest hit, Pursuit of Happiness, was played to close his set, with fans unaware of him being hurt and taken away from the stage.
Kid Cudi takes to X to address Coachella accident
On April 22, Kid Cudi took to X to announce that he broke his foot during his Coachella set. He added:
“Just leavin the hospital. Never broken a bone before so this is all a bit crazy. I wanna thank u all for ur concerns and well wishes!! I love yall man. I heard yall still ragin when I was offstage. Made me smile big”
Prior to the singer's accident, he gave an epic performance in the Sahara tent, where he sang Moon Man Sh*t, Tequila Shots, Sad People, Up Up & Away, Blue Sky, Superboy, ELECTROWAVEBABY, ELECTROWAVEBABY 2.0, and Memories.
Kid Cudi performed in place of Vampire Weekend during the second week of the dessert festival, as the latter had already performed during Week One, with a surprise appearance from Paris Hilton.
The last time Kid Cudi performed at Coachella was in 2019. The musician memorably wrapped up his concert with a tribute to the late singers Mac Miller and Nipsey Hussle, who tragically passed away in 2018.
During his performance this year, Cudi reminisced about his 2019 Coachella performance. He stated during the weekend that he looked back on videos of him singing on stage and noticed that he had a big smile while doing the show because that was the first time he understood the relationship between an artist and their crowd.
After recollecting the same, he began singing Up, Up & Away.
Kid Cudi’s recent Coachella performance comes after the release of his highly anticipated INSANO album in January. The following month, he also released a second rendition of the same.
The Mr. Rager crooner has also announced the tour dates for his North American and European shows. He is set to kick off his tour in America on June 28 in Austin, Texas.
He will perform in numerous cities, including Las Vegas, Cleveland, Denver, Boston, and New York City, until he wraps up his North American stint in Los Angeles on August 30.
While in Europe, he will be performing in Italy, France, Ireland, and London’s O2 Arena, among other places.
Fans can expect guest performances from Pusha T, EARTHGANG, Chelsea Pastel, and Jaden Smith, among others, on selected dates.
