The children of American actress and model, Kim Porter, have denied claims that their late mother wrote a memoir about her relationship with Sean "Diddy" Combs. Despite its current popularity on Amazon, Porter's children insist that KIM'S LOST WORDS: A Journey for Justice, from the Other Side…, released in early September, is a fabrication.

The book, which alleges an abusive relationship with Combs, was released shortly before his arrest in New York. Porter's children, Quincy, Christian, Jessie, and D'Lila, refuted the memoir's authenticity in a joint statement on September 25 which was posted on Instagram.

"Claims that our mom wrote a book are simply untrue. She did not, and anyone claiming to have a manuscript is misrepresenting themselves," the children stated.

They also addressed those promoting the book, saying,

"Any so-called 'friend' speaking on behalf of our mom or her family is not a friend, nor do they have her best interests at heart."

Quincy, Kim Porter's son from a previous relationship but raised by Combs, joined siblings Christian, Jessie, and D'Lila in denouncing the memoir. This marks their first public statement following Diddy's arrest. The book's release has revived rumors about Porter's death in 2018, but the children emphasized that her cause of death was long-established as pneumonia and dismissed any foul play.

Kim Porter's memoir sparks controversy

The book in question contains disturbing claims of physical abuse, sexual coercion, and violence supposedly committed by Diddy against Kim Porter. These allegations fueled widespread speculation, but Porter's children have firmly rejected such rumors, stating they were compelled to address the "hurtful and false rumors" about their mother's relationship with Diddy.

Published by Jamal T. Millwood "for" Kimberly A. Porter, the book climbed Amazon's bestseller list after Combs' arrest and indictment.

Some have even conspired that Jamal T. Millwood is an alias used by Tupac Shakur, who was signed by the rival of Bad Boy Records (owned by Combs), Death Row Records. After Shakur was shot dead in 1996, some believed that Diddy had a hand in it, but the currently incarcerated rapper has denied any involvement in it.

However, as per a September 24 report by Rolling Stone, Millwood is a pen name used by investigative journalist Todd Christopher Guzze, who claimed that he received the memoir's manuscript from two industry sources who were close to Kim Porter and Combs. Guzze, however, couldn't verify the authenticity of the memoir and stated,

"If somebody put my feet to the fire and they said, 'Life or death, is that book real?' I have to say I don't know. But it’s real enough to me."

Kim Porter passed away from lobar pneumonia in November 2018 at age 47. Combs described their bond as being "more than best friends" after her death. However, the book's release has reignited conspiracy theories about foul play, a claim that Porter's children rejected outright. They expressed sadness that the world has "made a spectacle of what has been the most tragic event of our lives."

Rolling Stone revealed that Guzze, using the pseudonym Chris Todd, was behind the book. Guzze, who claims to have worked on high-profile cases such as Nicole Brown Simpson and the Zodiac Killer, received the manuscript from unnamed sources. Despite the controversy, he stands by his belief that the memoir is based on Kim Porter's words, despite lacking evidence.

Porter's children reiterated that there was "no foul play" in their mother's death and asked for privacy as they continued to grieve.

"Grief is a lifelong process, and we ask that everyone respect our request for peace as we continue to cope with her loss every day," the family stated.

They ended their Instagram statement by calling for their mother to be remembered for her positive qualities, stating,

"Our mother should be remembered for the beautiful, strong, kind, and loving woman she was. Her memory should not be tainted by horrific conspiracy theories."

As the story continues to unfold, Kim Porter's family has made it clear that they want their mother's legacy to be respected, and for the false claims to be put to rest. Diddy's legal team has also condemned the memoir as "fake" and called it,

"A shameless attempt to profit from tragedy."

Diddy, who remains in custody, has denied all charges related to his recent arrest, with his next court appearance scheduled for October 9.
