Drake celebrated his 38th birthday yesterday (October 24), with fans, frequent collaborators, and friends taking to social media to wish the OVO CEO well.
Amid a flurry of fan posts and celebrity birthday wishes, a video of Drizzy "hitting a UwU" has gone viral across social media. Based on pictures posted to his Instagram story, Drake's viral video was seemingly recorded during a studio session from almost a month ago.
UwU, an emoticon-inspired term originating from internet culture, is used in texts to express admiration for something cute. As per Urban Dictionary, the "U" resembles eyes and the "W" represents a "happy mouth," similar to a smiling anime character.
The caption on Drizzy's "UwU" video reads:
"Continue to not take life so seriously"
With news outlets reposting the video on X, fans and critics took to the comment sections of these posts to highlight their thoughts on Drizzy's viral video.
One X user was found referencing allegations made during the 2024 rap beef, where Rick Ross alleged that Drake uses a weight loss drug, Ozempic, on his diss track Champagne Moments.
Critics were quick to clown the rapper in comment sections, with one individual even highlighting his age when giving their opinion on Drake's viral "UwU video".
"Crodie just turned 38 n----s old and he acting like an 8 n----s old. Please make it stop," an X user stated.
"Drake wants to identify as a teenage girl," a user claimed.
"Imagine Tupac doing this after dropping Hit Em' Up. Like, pick a persona brother," a critic stated.
"I don't even know what to say atp," an individual cites.
Several fans defended Drizzy from critics mocking the viral clip, emphasizing the rapper was only "being himself".
"Continue to not take life so seriously, is so real though. We only get this one life. Why waste it being all mad and sad? Enjoy ts bruh," an individual proclaimed.
"I’m not a fan of his, but this man don’t need the internet’s permission on what he can or cannot do lol," an X user defends Drizzy.
"Lmao look how triggered everyone is in the comments though," a user pointed out.
"I don’t get what’s wrong with a man who is FULLY comfortable in not only his s*xuality but just being himself. You guys weirdos," an X user defends Drake's viral video.
X users were also found referencing Drizzy's historic rap battle with Kendrick Lamar, where the internet unanimously decided the Compton rapper's victory after the commercial and critical success of Not Like Us.
"Kendrick bro what did you do to him," a Lamar fan claimed.
"Kendrick owns this manchild," adds another.
Drake and Dave's Hot Chicken reportedly gave out free sliders for rapper's 38th Birthday
Continuing a three-year tradition, Drake and the Los Angeles-based restaurant chain Dave's Hot Chicken sponsored a free slider giveaway on October 24, 2024.
