On July 6, 2024, popular music duo ODESZA was performing at The Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington when a brush fire caused the venue to be evacuated. The fire started near the location towards the end of the show, reportedly ignited by pyrotechnics used during the performance.
Despite the incident, there was no chaos among the audience and no injuries were reported. The Grant County Sheriff's Office confirmed the fire's origin. The area had been under a high heat warning, increasing the risk of fire.
Notably, ODESZA has not shared a statement about the fire and their spokesperson has not responded until now. The Gorge Amphitheatre addressed the incident by saying:
"The fire was contained and fortunately was quickly extinguished. Out of an abundance of caution and safety, the show ended without an encore. We truly appreciate everyone coming tonight and celebrating the end of the tour."
The statement was also shared by the venue the following day through their official page on X. On the other hand, social media platforms have been flooded with videos that show smoke going up in the air and a portion of the audience attending the band performance can be spotted watching the flames.
ODESZA has released an album this year celebrating their journey over the years
The Bellingham-based group has been active for around 12 years and they have been busy with the final shows of the ongoing The Last Goodbye Tour since 2022, The tour was announced after the release of their album, The Last Goodbye, which came out the same year and grabbed the 11th spot on the US Billboard 200.
Apart from The Gorge Amphitheatre, the final performances were held at locations such as Madison Square Garden, Boulder's Folsom Field, and BMO Stadium. ODESZA also expressed their excitement at the end of the tour in January this year and said:
"The journey to this point has been unimaginable – exceeding all our expectations – and we are excited to show you the final chapter of this experience. The new performance starting in June builds upon the live show and allows us to edit, extend, remix and play songs we haven't before."
The dates for the final shows were announced on January 29, 2024, and the duo's close friends such as Bob Moses and Big Boi were confirmed to perform. Tickets and other packages were available for early access the same month through the group's official website and the normal sale started on February 2.
A major highlight of the tour was ODESZA's collaboration with nonprofit organizations like REVERB to take action on problems like climate crisis.
The duo later released an album titled The Last Goodbye Tour in May this year. The album was around 90 minutes long and featured live recordings from the tour. It had VIP mixes and mashups and there were certain edits in the form of Across The Room x Falls and Say My Name x Late Night.
