Days after popular rock band Garbage canceled their upcoming shows, lead singer Shirley Manson posted a health update on social media. As per the latest post, the singer was afraid that she had damaged her vocal cords. She suffered from laryngitis and had a cold sore on her lips.

The post contained a picture of her vocal cords. Garbage had to cancel their shows due to the singer’s injury.

“I came home from tour an absolute hot mess. So broken that my poor husband had to push me through Heathrow and LAX airports in a wheelchair. I also had a dose of laryngitis and a massive cold sore on my lip”, wrote Shirley Manson.

The post continued:

“Anyway the point of this whole story is: I was freaking out that I had somehow managed to damage my vocal cords on top of everything else but yesterday I was scoped and everything is as it should be. These are my vocal cords. My doctor said they were beautiful.”

Previously, the band shared a post on Instagram, stating that they had to cancel all their remaining shows this year.

Shirley Manson suffered the injury during the band’s tour in Europe. Her injury would require surgery and rehabilitation. She revealed that she has been ‘crushed’ by the news more than anyone. However, the band looks forward to resuming their performances in 2025.

Shirley Manson’s fans wish her a speedy recovery

While many social media users commented on the perfect condition of the vocal cords, others looked forward to the musical treasures that Shirley Manson has yet to give to the world. Well-known singer and songwriter Alison Mosshart wrote that if she could survive Heathrow, then she could survive anything.

Fans want the singer to take this time to heal so that she can come back stronger.

“The fans care most about you being healthy and well above all else. Wishing you a speedy recovery…Take good care of yourself”, commented an Instagram user.
“LOve you Shirley! I'm so sorry about your injury. I really hope the surgery goes well and people sneak you in some decent food!”, wrote another user.
“So sorry to read this but health comes first! Hope everything goes well with the surgery and recovery, sending tons of hugs and warm thoughts, you got this!”, another user commented.

This isn’t the first time that Shirley Manson has suffered an injury. Back in 2016, she fell off the stage while performing at KROQ Weenie Roast in Los Angeles which made her undergo a hip replacement surgery last year.

She was singing the 1998 song Special when the mishap happened. The injury caused her severe pain for six years.

The band recently toured in Europe after five years. The itinerary started on June 26 and continued till July 20. Shows in the UK started on July 12 in Glasgow and went on to Barcelona, Madrid, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bridlington, Wolverhampton, Manchester and London.

Garbage is set to release their eighth studio album soon. They broke the news back in April this year.
