DDG announced his separation from Halle Bailey on October 3, 2024, leading to a lineup of reactions on social media. Meanwhile, Joe Budden also shared a few comments about the breakup on his podcast and DDG responded to the same.

Notably, Joe addressed the split in an episode of his podcast that aired on Saturday, October 5, claiming that he was not familiar with DDG, also known as Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr. He then referred to the breakup by saying:

"They've broken up, so I don't get to keep seeing this n*gga's name attached to this girl's name, and I don't know him for nothing as a stand-alone, and for me, it's important based on their own name and merit and what they have done."

Joe Budden also questioned the reason behind Darryl's name being attached to Halle Bailey every time and described the entire thing as a "clout chaser fashion." He continued:

"So that makes me look at him a different way, and hopefully I get to look at him a lot less now that they've broken up."

Darryl replied to the statements through his official page on X and shared a post on October 5, featuring screenshots of RIAA where Budden's single Pump It Up was certified Gold. The other screenshot revealed that three singles of Darryl received the Gold certification. The caption stated:

"Pump it up went gold after 20 years u old b*tch @JoeBudden I'm on u."

In another tweet shared on October 6, DDG wrote:

"N*gga got 30 years MAX of life left & speakin on a relationship of people the same age as yo son you'n take care of. I hope you forget to take your magnesium pills today u old b*tch @JoeBudden."

Joe has not responded to the tweets until now and although Darryl decided to reply to the broadcaster's comments, Halle Bailey opted to remain silent on the entire matter.

DDG said that he and Halle Bailey would remain close friends despite breaking up

As mentioned, DDG and Halle Bailey's split was confirmed on Thursday, October 3. The former shared a statement through his Instagram Story, writing that it was not an easy decision and they would cherish the moments spent together so far.

Darryl also wrote:

"Despite the changes in our relationship, our love for each other remains deep and true. We are still best friends and adore each other. As we focus on our own individual journeys and our roles as co-parents, we cherish the bond we've built and the beautiful moments we've shared."

The duo were romantically linked since 2022 and made their first public appearance as a couple at the BET Awards the same year.

The pair addressed the love they shared for each other on different occasions and Halle Bailey was also featured in the music video of Darryl's song If I Want You.

The Little Mermaid star was spotted alongside Darryl at the Milan Fashion Week last year followed by the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. They continued attending different events until Halle's pregnancy rumors started going viral in November 2023.

Halle later revealed through Instagram in January 2024 that she and Darryl became the parents of a son named Halo. The Grown-ish star shared a picture featuring the hand of the newborn and wrote:

"Even though we're a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son.. welcome to the world my halo the world is desperate to know you."

Although Darryl was the first person to announce his separation from Halle Bailey, the latter has not shared a statement about the same until now.
