On Thursday, January 2, Ariana Grande received the 'Rising Star Award' at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Grande's friend and Emmy-winning actress, Jennifer Coolidge, gave her the award on stage.

While accepting the award from Coolidge, the Side to Side singer said:

"You don't know how much it means to me. I've been performing since I was a child, so I never thought at the age of 31 I would be hearing the words 'rising star' again, so I wanted to start by thanking my two friends: Botox and Juvederm."

Grande continued:

"I thought I'd be hearing 'slightly withering star' or 'drooping star' by now so thank you."

According to Drugs.com, Juvederm is the name of a family of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers that help correct facial wrinkles and folds that range from moderate to severe. The nasolabial folds - lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth - are a common use case for these fillers. Juvederm is also used in lip augmentation treatments.

Juvederm products come in the form of an injectable gel and have a smooth consistency, unlike other hyaluronic gel products that commonly have a granular consistency. This smoothness is achieved through the Hylacross technology.

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in our bodies, which acts as a humectant on our skin, attracting and binding moisture and improving skin elasticity and firmness as a result.

Grande received the award for her performance in her 2024 musical Wicked.

Ariana Grande called playing Glind a "homecoming" in her acceptance speech

After thanking Botox and Juvederm, Ariana Grande thanked Jon M. Chu, the director of Wicked, calling him a "fearless leader," as well as Cynthia Erivo, who co-starred in the musical with her.

Speaking on her portrayal of Glinda, the good witch, Ariana said:

"Being able to play Glinda the Good was not only the honor of my life but it felt like a homecoming."

The 7 Rings singer continued by sharing about her first "professional gig," saying:

"For those of you who don't know, I started out in stand-up comedy. My first professional gig was in our living room in Boca Raton, Florida, [to entertain] my grandparents. I was 4 years old and my mom gave me $5."

Ariana also talked about how working in Wicked felt like the "beginning of a new chapter" for her, especially as she spent the last decade focused on music. Adding how the ghostin singer learned a lot about her character in the movie, she said:

"Though Glinda the good is full of frivolous humor and witty punchlines, comedy is just another way of telling the truth. She has an innate ability to make light out of darkness, even when there is pain, and I’m so grateful to have lived in that, to have learned so much from her over these past three years."

Grande also thanked Jennifer Coolidge for showing up for her, adding that it meant a lot to her. She also complimented Coolidge's creative genius and brilliance, which had inspired her all her life.

Besides the Palm Springs Film Festival, Ariana Grande is also nominated for other prestigious awards for her portrayal of Glinda this season, including the Golden Globes and the Critics Choice Award.

Beyond her movie Wicked, Ariana Grande dropped her seventh studio album, Eternal Sunshine, in March last year. The album's title was inspired by the 2004 Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet starrer Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Eternal Sunshine opened at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart, with two of its songs - Yes, And? and We Can't Be Friends - debuting atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
