Gospel and R&B singer Kelly Price has taken to social media to address her recent comments made towards Sean “Diddy” Combs. This comes after the former took to his Instagram comment section to say that she was praying for him, which left netizens distressed. The 51-year-old’s social media statements come after Diddy was exposed for physically assaulting singer and former girlfriend Cassie Ventura with surveillance footage.

Trigger Warning: The following article discusses s*xual assault and physical violence. Reader’s discretion is advised.

For those uninitiated, CNN released exclusive footage of Diddy grabbing, throwing, and kicking Ventura in a Los Angeles hotel in March 2016. Following its release, Kelly Price took to his Instagram account to comment:

“It is my sincere prayer that the power of the Holy Ghost overtake you so that you not not only have a change of heart but a change of mind and a change of direction. I have seen you at your best and at your worst. I know what you are capable of being when you were at your best despite the seductions of this industry.”

Kelly Price, who collaborated with Diddy on his 1999 track I’ll Do This for You, also requested the latter to pray “sincerely.” She also said:

“You are a unique talent, and both sides that represent light and darkness receive you anxiously.”

“I won’t let anyone call me out for something I didn’t do”: Kelly Price takes to Instagram to address comments about Diddy

The Soul of a Woman creator took to her Instagram account after her comments addressed to Diddy raised eyebrows. She said in the caption of her video that she “won’t let anyone call me out for something I didn’t do.” She also stated that “What happens legally is up to the people who have that authority.”

In the video she uploaded alongside the statement, she said:

“I don’t stand with anything that is criminal… for those of you who got what I was trying to say and I was compelled to say it, I don’t need the clout… if someone has a problem like alcoholism or drugs or whatever it is, if you put them in a 90-day program and they feel better and check themselves out, the work has not been finished"

Price also stated:

“I was telling him do the soul work. So it wasn't, “oh my God, I’m praying for you, why are they trying to tear the Black man down.””

At the time of writing this article, Diddy had not publicly responded to Kelly Price’s Instagram comment. However, he did take to the social networking site to take responsibility for allegedly attacking Ventura. While stating that his actions were “inexcusable” and that they “disgusted” him, he stated that he has sought out “professional help,” which includes therapy and “going to rehab.” He also stated, “I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry.”

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office issued a statement recently concerning the surveillance footage. They stated that they could not take any action against Diddy as the alleged assault “occurred beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted.”

The incident was also highlighted in Cassie Ventura’s November lawsuit against Diddy. While claiming that she was r*ped, physically assaulted, and forced into s*x trafficking, Ventura’s complaint alleged that- “he grabbed at her, and then took glass vases in the hallway and threw them at her.”

The lawsuit was settled a day after it was filed. However, Combs continues to maintain his innocence even after multiple other alleged victims have come forward to accuse him of similar wrongdoings.
