Country music star Lauren Alaina has canceled all upcoming shows following the tragic death of her father, J.J. Suddeth, announced on social media.
On July 24, 2024, Alaina took to her Instagram account and shared the demise of her father in a textual post. Alaina further suggested that she could not perform three of her upcoming shows, as the country star was on her 2024 tour. Alaina wrote on Instagram,
"We lost my dad last night, and I really don't have the words yet,"
In 2017, with Parade, Alaina spoke publicly about her father's alcohol addiction, revealing the profound effect it had on her and her family. However, she shared her father overcame his addiction, which she was so proud of.

The country star released her debut studio album, Wildflower, on October 11, 2011. Her mother is Kristy Suddeth, and she is the only child of Suddeth.

In January 2017, Lauren Alaina appeared on Parade following her second studio album, Road Less Traveled, released on January 27, 2017. During the interview with Parade, Alaina was asked about her song Doin' Fine from her album. A verse was quoted to understand its meaning and significance. In response, the country star suggested she reflected on her father's alcohol addiction, her parent's divorce, and second marriages.
In her statement, Alaina revealed when her mother, Kristy, requested a divorce. Therefore, her father got himself into rehab to recover from addiction. The artist further stated that she saw it as a "blessing in disguise" because the incident resulted in her father's growth to sobriety —
"My dad is a recovering alcoholic, and when my mom asked for a divorce, he checked himself into rehab. They didn't end up working it out, which is unfortunate, but it's a blessing in disguise because my dad is sober and happy and a great man now and has grown so much because Mom asked for that divorce."
Lauren Alaina further suggested that both of her parents married again and were happy. She revealed her father married a woman seven years older than her and further stated that she was very close to her father —
"And then my dad married someone who's seven years older than me. The holidays are interesting! I am so close with my dad, and I'm so close with my mom, but it's so crazy."

Most recently, on June 16, 2024, Lauren Alaina shared a post on Instagram with her father on Father's Day. The post featured pictures of J.J. Suddeth, who can be seen crying at the sight of Alaina as a bride. The country singer captioned the post suggesting that her father had a size of heart —
"Happy Father's Day to "my old man" with a heart the size of Texas!! I love you so much daddy and hope you have the best day fishin'. Love, your turd (pinky) 🤍"
In a statement released on Wednesday, Lauren Alaina expressed her deep sorrow and gratitude for the prayers and support from the fans amid her father's demise. Alaina also posted on Instagram that she is going home to be with her family now.
Alaina also noted that her shows in Savannah, Virginia Beach, and Charlotte were all canceled, and she could not attend them. The artist concluded the post with "Pinky", a nickname that her father gave to her —
"I want to let y'all know that I'm not able to play the three shows I had scheduled for this weekend in Savannah, Virginia Beach and Charlotte as I am going home to be with with my family. Thank you for your prayers and understanding. Pinky 🤍"
The reason for J.J. Suddeth's sudden demise has not been revealed yet, and the updated dates for her shows have not been revealed. According to her official website, Lauren Alaina's upcoming performance is on August 1, 2024, at Darien Center, New York.
