Rapper Blueface, whose real name is Johnathan Jamall Porter, has informed his followers in a recent update that he is incarcerated in a General Population Level 3 prison yard.
"Blueface is on an active GP level 3 prison yard," the rapper's Instagram story on December 31, 2024, read.
The rapper faced a four-year jail term on August 9, 2024, for probation violation.
According to the 2nd Chance Bail Bonds website, a level three prison is a special custody level in the correctional system. The exact specifications of the level may vary depending on jurisdiction and facility. However, it is usually considered to be a medium security level.
Therefore, level 3 inmates are considered to pose a "moderate level of risk or pose a moderate security threat within the correctional system." They are also subject to regular supervision and control by officers. Level 2 and 3 inmates also receive several hours of yard time if they do not have a job or school.
Blueface's update sparked strong reactions from netizens, with many wondering what the rapper's story meant.
"What does it mean?," a fan asked.
One netizen joked:
A third one jibed:
"his face gon turn blue fr this time when they get a hold of them cheeks."
Reality TV star Chrisean Rock declares her love for Blueface while the rapper is in prison
On December 30, 2024, reality TV star Chrisean Rock took to her Instagram story to declare her love for Blueface and hoped he would be free. Rock reposted the rapper's only post on Instagram, which is an image of the couple together, and wrote:
"Free you I love you Johnathan (blue heart emoji) @bluefasebabyy."
The Los Angeles-based rapper's troubles with the law began when he first violated his probation after the 2021 assault of a security guard at a North Hollywood lounge. In November 2022, he was arrested by authorities in Las Vegas in connection to a separate incident involving a shooting at a local strip club. He faced charges of attempted murder and shooting a firearm.
Porter was sentenced to three years of probation and could have two to five years of prison time. However, in February 2024, Porter got into further legal trouble after allegedly shoving a fan at the Gem Nightclub and asking his crew to "get her." The mother of Blue's child, Jaidyn Alexis, was also reportedly in a collision with the female fan. The videos of the encounter went viral online.
Blue was under probation at the time of the incident, which counted as a violation of his terms. In July, Porter was granted a three-year probation period. However, he remained imprisoned for violating his probation in connection with the 2021 assault of a security guard, for which he was sentenced to four years in prison in August 2024.
At the time of his sentencing in August 2024, Blueface's manager, Wack 100, told TMZ Hip Hop he was able to get the rapper's sentencing suspended for the past few years. However, the judge was forced to grant him maximum time in prison after Blueface was found with drug paraphernalia.
Police also arrested Blue's partner, Chrisean Rock, in June 2024 after she attended Blue's hearing. Her arrest was in connection to drug-related charges in Oklahoma. She was eventually released in September 2024 and has yet to be charged in the case.
