Lil Pump continued his verbal attack against US Vice President Kamala Harris, who stands as the Democratic nominee for the upcoming November presidential elections. On August 28, 2024, the rapper took to X to condemn Harris for her alleged communist views, writing that his mother saw the first-hand negative repercussions of communism in Columbia.
"This is a battle of Communism vs. Freedom. My mom grew up in Columbia and has seen the effects of Communism first hand. We can’t EVER let that happen here. The only way it will is if we “elect” Kamala," he wrote.
In a 2018 interview with fellow rapper J. Cole, Lil Pump, whose real name is Gazzy Fabio Garcia, revealed his parents were from Colombia. The rapper, who has a Latin American heritage, grew up in Miami, Florida. His parents divorced when he was six and his father died in April 2022.
Lil Pump questioned Kamala Harris's racial identity on social media
Lil Pump has been a staunch MAGA supporter since 2020, appearing at a Donald Trump rally where the former president mistakenly referred to him as "Lil Pimp." The rapper also has Trump's mugshot tattooed on his thigh.
So it was no surprise when the rapper began disparaging Kamala Harris on social media after President Joe Biden announced he was endorsing her for the upcoming elections. He questioned her racial identity, alleging the VP was Indian and not black, like she claimed she was. Kamala Harris is biracial, with an Indian mother and a Jamaican father.
Donald Trump repeated this sentiment during his panel at the National Association of Black Journalists convention on July 31. He claimed he didn't know Harris was Black, as she allegedly portrayed herself as an Indian woman.
“She was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage. I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago, when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. So I don’t know, is she Indian or is she Black?” he said.
What else has Lil Pump said about Kamala Harris?
Lil Pump continued his verbal assault on Harris, threatening to leave the US if she was elected president. On August 9, the rapper took to Instagram stories and said:
“I swear on my dad’s grave, if this stupid a** b***h Kamala Harris wins the f**king election, I’m moving out of America, boy. I swear on everything.”
Later, he went on X to claim he was releasing a diss track against Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. However, he retracted his statement and instead said he would release a pro-Trump song, adding a diss track "would hurt" the Republican causes and result in them stooping "down to the liberals level."
Lil Pump rose to fame as a SoundCloud rapper. He enjoyed success with the release of the track Gucci Gang in 2017. The song peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The 24-year-old rapper released his self-titled debut album that same year. Since then, he released two more studio albums, Harverd Dropout in 2019 and Lil Pump 2 in 2023.
