Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash's stepdaughter Lucy-Bleu Knight died on July 19, 2024. Knight was the daughter of Mark Knight and Slash's wife, Megan Hodges.
A recent update by the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner confirmed that Lucy-Bleu Knight's death was caused by Hydrogen sulfide poisoning. The report further stated that "the manner of death was suicide."
Hydrogen sulfide is a colorless gas that can be recognized instantly by its pungent smell resembling rotten eggs. Acute exposure to the gas can cause respiratory paralysis, cyanosis, loss of consciousness, coma, cardiac arrhythmias and even death.
The Grammy-winning guitarist and his wife announced the death of their 25-year-old daughter on Instagram and requested fans to give them privacy and stop spreading speculations about her death.
"Lucy-Bleu was a talented artist, a passionate dreamer, and a charming, lovable, sweet soul. The family asks for privacy at this time and requests that social media speculation be kept to a minimum as they grieve and process this devastating loss,” wrote the guitarist and his wife in an Instagram statement.
Lucy-Bleu Knight posted a cryptic message on Instagram hours after people got the news of her death
Slash and Meegan Hodges announced the death of their daughter on July 21 via an Instagram post. Moments after Lucy's death became public, a cryptic message was posted on her Instagram account:
"Whether I made you feel excluded, manipulated/ controlled you, told you to quit your day job from the comfort of being financially supported by my parents, or drowned real issues in toxic positivity-I am sorry.
"Countless missed opportunities and connections due to a disgustingly big ego, insecure heart and fear of being vulnerable. May my soul learn to evolve from my poor job at being Lucy-Bleu. Peace."
According to the Los Angeles County medical examiner's report, Lucy-Bleu Knight died at a private residence in Los Angeles and the case is still being investigated further.
Knight worked as a manager at Electric Lady Management and was also a part-time tattoo artist. The 25-year-old would often post her ink work on social media to be lauded by her followers.
On July 27, Slash posted a message on Instagram highlighting the pain and grief his daughter's demise caused the musician. In the caption, the Guns N' Roses guitarist wrote:
"My heart is permenantly fractured. I will never ever stop missing you & remembering what a beacon of happiness, laughter, creativity & beauty you have always been. & still are. The brightest light in the lives of so many that loved you so much. I find solace in the hope that you are at peace now. I will love you eternally."
The Guns N' Roses guitarist also canceled several concert dates of his ongoing S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Tour due to 'unforeseen circumstances' just before the announcement of Knight's death was made. The tour was in celebration of Slash's recently released album Orgy of the Damned.
