At the recent 2024 Republican National Convention in Wisconsin, people heard Nessun Dorma being sung shortly after former President Donald Trump's speech. For the unversed, Nessun Dorma is one of the best-known tenor arias in opera. The climax scene of the 2002 film The Sum of All Fears, starring Morgan Freeman and Ben Affleck, featured the song.

The Italian operatic tenor Luciano Pavarotti was the one who made this aria as popular as it is currently. The phrase usually translates to "none shall sleep," as reported by uDiscover Music. The aria had been taken from Pavarotti's Turandot, in which it was sung by the character Prince Calaf. Over the years, it became extremely popular and got associated with football as well. It gained popularity on a global platform during the 1990 FIFA World Cup, when Pavarotti sang it.

The aria being played at the 2024 RNC became a much-talked-about moment amongst netizens as well. A user wrote on X,

"Nessun Dorma is played at the end of the film The Sum of All Fears, in which time ALL the traitors & Deep State Actors were executed... Trump is very specific about his songs… he played this for a reason."
"RNC Closes with the Italian classic Nessun Dorma. Trump knows exactly what he’s doing…" added one tweet.
"I loved this. What a perfect ending," shared one user.

Most netizens expressed that they loved the ending of the event with the popular aria.

"Not to mention the aria ends with 'I will win, I will win,'" one tweet read.
"Trump concluded the RNC with the song Nessun Dorma, NONE SHALL SLEEP which is the closing song in THE SUM OF ALL FEARS “PAYBACK” when they take out all of the bad guys, at THE END," added one user.

Nessun Dorma being sung at the 2024 RNC had garnered massive attention

Donald Trump gave his much-awaited speech at the Republican National Convention after becoming the officially nominated candidate of the Republican Party. During the speech, the former president recalled the alleged assassination attempt in Pennsylvania and said how he wanted the crowd to know that he was fine.

"So I raised my right arm, looked at the thousands and thousands of people that were breathlessly waiting and started shouting, 'Fight! Fight! Fight!'"

He further continued,

"I’m not supposed to be here tonight. As you already know, the assassin’s bullet came within a quarter of an inch of taking my life."

Al Jazeera reported that Trump's acceptance speech was about 90 minutes long, making it the longest one in modern history. What caught people's attention was when the opera singer began singing the popular aria Nessun Dorma after the long speech. Trump's supporters went all out on social media after the moment took place.

They expressed how much they loved the usage of the aria at the end of the speech. A lot of them shed light on the ending of the aria, which said, "Vincerò! Vincerò! Vincerò!", which further translated to "I will win! I will win! I will win!"

While the former President began his speech in a calm tone, he reportedly soon began talking about his "anti-immigrant rhetoric," as reported by Al Jazeera. Some of the main themes of his acceptance speech revolved around topics like the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan and Israel's constant attacks on Gaza.

The 2024 Presidential elections are expected to be held on November 5, 2024, with several candidates, including Joe Biden from the Democratic Party and Donald Trump representing the Republicans.
