"What a precious motherly moment" — Netizens react to Halle Bailey getting emotional as she sings happy birthday to her and DDG’s son, Halo

On Sunday, December 22, Halo - the firstborn of Halle Bailey and DDG - turned one. As Halo's parents celebrated his first birthday, a video clip from the party was uploaded on X by @scubaryan today (December 23).

In the video, Halle Bailey is seen standing with a mic in her hands, dressed in a white tee and blue jeans, and sings "happy birthday to you" to her one-year-old, who is hoisted up DDG's shoulder.

The 24-year-old tears up in between, but completes the song anyway, at the end of which DDG gives Halo to her and the mother-son duo hug.

The video has since gone viral on the social media platform, receiving over 165K views and 4K likes. Netizens have reacted to it, with one netizen writing:

Some netizens praised Halle's "beautiful" voice while others claimed that Halo was literally sent to her.

Halle Bailey and DDG announced their split months before Halo's first birthday

Halle Bailey's son's birthday comes two months after DDG and her ended their relationship. Per Billboard, DDG announced their break up in an Instagram story on October 3, 2024, writing:

"After much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways. This decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for both of us. I cherish the time we’ve spent together and the love we’ve shared."

DDG first went public about his relationship with the Little Mermaid actress two years ago, in January 2022. Having spent over a year together, the couple welcomed their first son in December 2023, announcing his birth in January 2024.

The rumors of their breakup first began in April 2024, when the couple unfollowed each other on Instagram, also taking down some of their posts with the other person.

However, when they shared pictures from their first trip as a family to Italy in July, things appeared to be all right between Halle Bailey and DDG. The Hard on Myself rapper continued his Instagram story with:

"Despite the changes in our relationship, our love for each other remains deep and true. We are still best friends and adore each other. As we focus on our individual journeys and our roles as co-parents, we cherish the bond we’ve build and the beautiful moments we’ve shared."

According to HotNewHipHop, DDG shut down speculations surrounding his relationship with Halle Bailey a few days before their son's birthday. The Hood Melody rapper was on a livestream when he was asked who his favorite ex was, and he mentioned a name besides Bailey.

This led to outrage among viewers, which DDG called "unwarranted," writing in the comments section:

"Halle is not my ex, she is my family, I excluded her. I don't give 2 f**ks about the other woman, I'm just playing the game. This is out of context!"
