Singer Queen Naija recently sparked attention on social media with a post about the TikTok ban. Known for her music career and album Misunderstood, Naija addressed the ban on her X account on January 17, 2025. Although the post has since been deleted, it read:
"I feel like TikTok being gone will open doors back up for artist who make REAL music."
Queen Naija is yet to share a response on why she decided to remove the post and further updates on the same are currently awaited. On the other hand, netizens took to the comments section of The Neighborhood Talk's Instagram post to share their reactions to Naija's deleted tweet.
While a user claimed that Naija was not wrong, another person wrote that what she said was "mean" considering that she became famous through an app. One of the users was spotted questioning why Queen Naija deleted the post. People who supported Naija's statement also reacted, with an individual writing that everyone was well aware of what she was trying to say.
According to Free Press Journal, the US Supreme Court has ordered a ban on TikTok, saying that the app was a risk to national security due to its association with China. The ban will be implemented from January 19, 2025.
While the court is allowing the app's parent company to sell it so that the ban can be avoided, TikTok has yet to share a response to the same.
Queen Naija has released a new single around a month ago
The Ypsilanti, Michigan native has not announced another album for around five years. However, she has continued bringing new music, including a song titled Straight Outta Heaven, which came out in December 2024.
Queen Naija's latest single was dedicated to her sons Chris and Legend. The latter also featured towards the end of the song with a message where he called Naija the best mother in the entire world.
According to Rated R&B, Naija said in the single that it feels like a follow-up to another song, Mama's Hand, which was also dedicated to her eldest child Chris. She further stated:
"When I became pregnant with my 2nd born, I worried how I would be able to split my love in half, which is something I know many mothers can identify with. That feeling led me to creating 'Straight Outta Heaven.' There are no instructions that come with how to do this #momlife, but all of us are just trying our best."
Last year, Queen Naija released two singles, including Good Girls Finish Last in September, which reached 25th on Billboard's Adult R&B Airplay Chart.
The second single, Missing You, was released the following month, where she paid tribute to her friend Beast, who was also her bodyguard. A report by Anti Music stated that Beast died back in 2022 and Missing You featured lyrics where Naija addressed how he was being missed by everyone from her team.
Apart from her successful musical career, Naija is also famous for being featured in American Idol season 13.
