22-year-old rapper Ralan Styles died on October 19, 2024, after an attempted robbery in which the suspect allegedly shot him after trying to steal his chain. The Floridian rapper, whose real name is Michael Robinson, died in the early hours of Saturday at a home in Columbus, Ohio.

According to The Daily Mail, Styles was shot multiple times in the ensuing brawl after a thief allegedly tried to rob him. Local law enforcement reportedly arrived at the scene at around 5 am, followed by medics, who tried to resuscitate the rapper via CPR. However, he was announced dead at 5:10 am.

Ralan Styles gained popularity after his 2022 remix of Baby Shark, the Korean children's song. The official music video for Styles' rap version gained over 1.7 million views on YouTube since its release on September 6, 2022. The song's popularity also got the rapper his record deal with Republic Records.

Police arrested a suspect in connection to Ralan Styles' shooting

According to The Daily Mail, the police arrested 24-year-old Mahamood Hassan as the suspect in Ralan Styles' shooting after eyewitness accounts. Hassan, whose rap sheet included trespassing and stealing, was charged with murder and transported to Franklin County Jail. He is expected to appear in court on October 21.

Ralan Styles' death brought forth a wave of tribute on social media, led by his elder brother Lil Goat, a fellow rapper. He took to Instagram to mourn his younger brother, writing:

"Not my lil brother man. I'm still waiting for you to call me and tell me this whole thing is a joke. My heart is f**king broken, I'll never be the same. We went from rapping at the lunch table together in middle school, to becoming superstars."

He further continued:

"We slept on the floor together, we ate together, we fought together, signed our first deal together. I love you bro, and as long as I'm alive you'll never die. Watch over me. Rest in peace to my lil brother. Save me a spot up there my heart."

Fans soon flooded social media to pay homage to Ralan Styles, thanking him for his music and praising his car freestyle raps.

Jared Krumm, Styles' friend, called the rapper "funny, energetic, and talented," adding he had an energy that "will NEVER be forgotten."

"There was never a dull moment with you whether we were in the studio, chillin in Jake's basement, or even just riding in the car to McDonald’s. You had an energy that will NEVER be forgotten and im gonna miss your nut a** sending me DMs everyday. Wish i wasn’t typing this, sometimes life isn’t fair. R.I.P Ralan. Prayers go out to his family and friends," he wrote.

Michael Robinson, aka Ralan Styles, grew up in the Bay Area heavily influenced by jazz and funk. In 2020, he collaborated with his brother to release Dancing with the Devil. The rapper released his debut single It's All Good that same year and his debut album, Radiance, in January 2021.
