Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, who goes by the stage name Lady Gaga, recently responded to a viral TikTok post highlighting the infamous Facebook group titled, "Stefani Germanotta, you will never be famous." On Wednesday, the 13-time Grammy-winning singer posted a comment under the TikTok video, stating:

"Some people I went to college (with) made this way back when," before adding, "this is why you can't give up when people doubt you or put you down—gotta keep going."

For the uninitiated, Gagas's former college peers created the Facebook group (since deleted), predicting she would never be famous. Per her biography on IMDb, Gaga gained admission to New York University's Tisch School of the Arts when she was just 17. However, in 2005, she left her studies to focus on her music career.

"I didn't know how to listen in a scene"- Lady Gaga on her early acting days

The TikTok video in question featured two images—one screenshot of the Facebook group and another of Lady Gaga at the 2019 Academy Awards with a list of honors and awards she received overlayed on top. The fan intended to highlight how far the singer has come since her college days.

The "Stefani Germanotta, you will never be famous" group is well known among the singer's fans. To be noted, the page is now deleted but has sparked imitating accounts, many of which have explicitly stated they were run by fans.

Additionally, according to an October 2010 article by the Guardian, Facebook launched "Groups" in 2010, long after the singer left college. However, screenshots shared by CNET in February 2014, show users had access to "My Groups" in its early days.

According to an Entertainment Weekly article from December 2021, before her shot to fame, the singer appeared in an episode of MTV's reality prank series, Boiling Points, and appeared in a small role as an extra on The Sopranos. She is credited as the "Girl at Swimming Pool #2" on season 3 episode 9 of the show.

Talking to the publication about her The Sopranos gig, Gaga explained

"When I look back on that scene I can see exactly what I did wrong in that scene. I didn't know how to listen in a scene! I was supposed to laugh, and it was sort of like, cue, laugh... I see it and I go, 'oh, that's not a real laugh!'"
