Model and entrepreneur Amber Rose took to the stage at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Monday, July 15, 2024, to support Donald Trump for the 2024 presidential elections. Speaking to the audience, the rapper remarked:
"The media has lied to us about Donald Trump."
The South Philadelphia native explained that, as a mother, her life revolves around her children, and she wants to keep them safe and provide them with better opportunities. She added that the best chance for achieving this is by electing Trump.
The model has two sons, Sebastian Thomaz (Bash) and Slash Edwards (Slash), whose names she has tattooed on her forehead as "Bash Slash."
However, her speech was met with criticism, with many calling her a hypocrite for supporting a candidate who stands against what she previously advocated. Here are some comments seen under @hollywoodunlocked's post on Instagram:
Netizens continued to criticize Amber Rose, who is bi-racial, for misusing the platform she gained through the support of the black community. Some even criticized her facial tattoo. Here are some comments seen unser @theshaderoom's post on Instagram:
In a February 2020 interview with CNN, she explained that Kobe Bryant's death (he died in a helicopter crash with his 13-year-old daughter) inspired her to get her sons' names inked, stating, "It made me reflect on my life."
"The left told me to hate Trump and even worse, to hate the other side" — Amber Rose in her RNC speech
Amber Rose announced she was gearing up for her speech at the Milwaukee RNC on July 8 through a post on X.
The model publicly revealed her support for former President Trump in May when she shared an IG post featuring a photo of herself with the Republican candidate and his wife, Melania.
This came as a shock, as Rose has been vocal in her anti-Trump stance during the 2016 elections. At the time, in an interview with The Cut, the rapper called him a "f*cking idiot," adding that she hoped he would not become president.
However, in her recent speech, Amber Rose remarked that the media and left-wing propaganda lied about Trump and called him racist. She admitted that she once believed the propaganda, but after attending his rallies and meeting his supporters, she realized that they "don’t care if you’re black, white, gay, or straight. It’s all love."
The rapper remarked, "These are my people. This is where I belong," and added:
"The left told me to hate Trump and even worse, to hate the other side — the people who support him. When you cut through the lies, you realize the truth: American families were better when Donald Trump was president. We were safer, wealthier, and stronger."
The Republican National Convention in Milwaukee is scheduled to run through Thursday, July 18.
