On January 4, 2025, 50 Cent hit back at a blogger who criticized his Las Vegas residency show while on stage. Jennifer Gay, a Las Vegas-based blogger, wrote in her review on X on December 29, 2024, calling the rapper's show "the worst live performance" she had ever attended.

"This was the worst live performance, for any artist, I’ve ever attended. I understand that he’s successful and doesn’t need a residency, so why do it if he doesn’t want to put any effort into it?" the blogger wrote.

Responding to the critique, the Outta Control artist addressed the comments while doing his signature hand-raising and lowering motion, a move repeated throughout his show.

"You was supposed to say like, '50 you keep doing this shit'."

He continued:

"What you thought, I’m gonna be out here rollerblading like Usher? I seen some shit, Chris Brown was flying in Africa. I don't have records that require me to fly in Africa."

As the crowd at the residency show cheered for 50 Cent to go on, the Disco Inferno rapper asked them to join him, saying:

"If y'all not tired, let me see y'all put your hands up one for me."

Jennifer Gay criticized the sound quality and the stage design of 50 Cent's residency show

In her review of 50 Cent's Las Vegas residency show, Jennifer Gay revealed that she had attended another one of his shows decades ago, hosted in a Memphis warehouse, complimenting it as "pure magic." The blogger then called the show the "opposite" of that last performance.

Gay went on to call the 21 Questions rapper "unrelenting," adding:

"The sound was balanced poorly making it impossible to hear the performance. His hypemen were unrelenting and overbearing making it difficult to hear anything but their echos. The stage design and graphics felt like they were organized 15 minutes before the show with a Chat GPT prompt for “90’s hip hop images”."

Gay, who is famous as Vegas Starfish across social media, also criticized 50 Cent's lack of interaction with the crowd in her review, writing:

"During the build up to this show, 50’s publicists suggested this would be an unforgettable night full of surprises and energy. The only surprise was the lack of energy. There was almost no crowd engagement, the calls for an 'encore'ebegan 63 minutes into the performance and he returned to do another 15 minutes before unceremoniously leaving the stage without so much as a Thank You."

50 Cent first announced his Las Vegas residency show back in October 2024. His In Da Club experience was scheduled to take place in the city in the week surrounding New Year's, with the shows being slated for December 27, 28, 30, 31, and January 3 and 4.

Per TMZ's report, actress Amanda Bynes was also present on PH Live on Saturday to attend the last residency show of 50 Cent, where she appeared relaxed and mingled with fans. She was also heard telling other attendees that she had "been a fan of 50 for years" and couldn't resist attending it. Following the show, Bynes met the rapper backstage with a friend and clicked pictures.

Per a TMZ article published on October 15, 2024, the So Disrespectful rapper secured a $15 million deal for the residency. It was held inside the 4,600-seat PH Live. Also known as the Bakkt Theater, the venue features 2,200 square feet of HD LED walls, a D&B sound system with over 100K watts of power, and one of the largest proscenium arch openings in the US.

Other artists besides 50 Cent who have previously performed in the auditorium include Pitbull, Lionel Richie, Shania Twain, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Kelly Clarkson, Backstreet Boys, and Britney Spears.

50 Cent's Las Vegas residency comes two years after the rapper won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Special (live) for his surprise performance at the Superbowl LVI Halftime Show in February 2022.
