Olney, Philadelphia, police are investigating the death of popular rapper YBC Dul. The Young Bag Chasers gang affiliate was shot on the 5500 block of N. 6th Street on Friday, August 23, 2024, at approximately 3:34 pm. The suspects were not identified at the time of writing this article.
Law enforcement told 5ABC Philadelphia that the victim, whose real name is Abdul Vicks, was shot multiple times in the chest and hand. He was taken to a local hospital following the shooting, where he was pronounced dead.
The exact reason behind the shooting remains unknown at the time of writing this article.
YBC Dul was 25 years old at the time of his passing.
YBC Dul also went by the moniker of Mr. Disrespectful
The Philadelphia native went viral in the past for digging up the grave of his “opps,” which also means opposition or rival. Speaking about the viral moment, the late singer said in an interview with Bradon Buckingham recently that he did not have a shovel at the time of going to the graveyard.
He gained the moniker Mr. Disrespectful after his fans kept calling him that. He revealed in the aforementioned interview that he knew that he was “trolling” people, but would do it only until “a certain extent.” YBC Dul also claimed in the interview that the most disrespectful thing he ever did was threaten K3’s mother with physical assault.
For those uninitiated, K3 is a Philadelphia native who was allegedly killed by a YBC gang member.
Speaking about his music, YBC Dul also shared with followers:
“We diss differently. You know what people be talking about, be like and like- ‘damn you just said that in a song?’”
The musician also shared his recent favorite singers in the aforementioned interview. Dul named Hood Tali, Leaf Ward, Hop Out Blick, Skrilla, and FS Da Bender.
As the interview progressed, Dul shockingly showed fans his gun collection, which he claimed to always keep in his vehicle. In a chilling moment in the interview, Dul also shared how he felt about him likely getting shot in the streets of Philadelphia. The musician said:
“I ain’t gonna lie bro, you should be nervous though bro because walking with me a bad jawn, but so-called ni*gas be on my a*s still so that’d be a bad jawn.”
YBC Dul had amassed nearly 50,000 subscribers on his official YouTube channel at the time of writing this article. A few of his popular tracks include Baltimore, LongLiveJeffreyDahmer, Dead People, 5500, and Draco, among others.
As the Philadelphia police investigate YBC Dul’s death, they are also looking into the shooting of another man on the 600 block of North 12th Street. The incident that occurred at 6:19 pm on the same day left a young child injured as well.
Police confirmed that two suspects were involved in the shooting and that they are on the hunt for them.
