Zach Bryan faced backlash after appearing to diss Taylor Swift on his X account. After Swifties criticized him, he deactivated his account. Before doing so, he clarified that he likes Taylor Swift.
On Wednesday, September 18, Zach Bryan took to X to share his hot takes on the social networking site. He wrote online, “eagles > chiefs” and “Kanye > Taylor.” He concluded the same by saying, “who’s with me.”
Swifties were upset with Zach Bryan for saying Kanye West was better than Taylor Swift, given Swift and West’s past feud. They were also offended by his claim that the Philadelphia Eagles were better than the Kansas City Chiefs, as Swift is dating Chiefs' player Travis Kelce. The Chiefs and Eagles have a rivalry, with the Chiefs winning the 2023 Super Bowl against the Eagles.
Zach Bryan’s X account has since been deactivated. Meanwhile, the singer continued to praise Ye on his Instagram stories. The musician featured his older songs Good Life, I Thought About Killing You, All Mine, and Ghost Town on his Instagram account, which remained active at the time of writing this article.
Now, Swifties have taken to X to troll Zach Bryan relentlessly. Some tweets online read:
“got all brave just to wimp out and deactivate,” an X user said.
“He knew not to mess with the Swifties,” another platform user commented.
“desperate for attention,” a netizen commented.
For those uninitiated, Ye and Taylor Swift have been in an intense feud since the former interrupted the latter’s 2009 VMA acceptance speech, where he declared that Beyoncé was more deserving of Swift’s award. Meanwhile, other reactions to Bryan’s tweet read:
“Breaking: male Country artist has bad take. Oh wait, that’s to be expected,” an X user said.
“Country artists have bad takes. We know this,” another netizen said.
“What made him think posting this to TWITTER was a good idea,” a platform user said.
This is the first time Zach Bryan has seemingly dissed Taylor Swift publicly. Meanwhile, other reactions to his tweet read:
“Said something controversial and got triggered when people went against him. Good riddance,” an X user said.
“He’s so soft,” another platform user said.
“Guys I love Taylor” — Zach Bryan takes to X to clarify controversial tweet
After garnering intense backlash online, Bryan took to X to state that he posted the aforementioned tweet as he was inebriated. He went on to clarify that he loved both Swift and Ye. His tweet read:
“Guys I love Taylor, was listening to TTPD [The Tortured Poets Department] last night and thank you aimee came on and I drunkenly tweeted that about Kanye. If anyone took it serious please know I love both artists a lot and think we’re in a really beautiful time in music.”
Thank You Aimee, the song that Bryan referred to has widely been seen as a diss track aimed at Kanye West’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
In 2022, Bryan took to X to praise Swift when the latter’s Midnights album was released. He tweeted, “miss swift what are the vibes at midnight good morning everybody and happy almost sweekend, get in we’re going crying.” When a fan later asked him which song of Swift’s was his favorite, he stated, August.
Meanwhile, Bryan and Swift have shared space on the Billboard 200 album chart, with the latter’s The Tortured Poets Department ranking at the fifth spot and the former’s The Great American Bar Scene ranking at the seventh spot.
