50 Cent recently appeared as a guest on the FLAGRANT podcast, where he addressed the hypothetical pressure that Kendrick Lamar would face if Drake stepped away from the world of rap.

In a video clip uploaded to X by @DailyLoud on December 17, the 50 Cent said:

"If someone like Drake says, ‘I’m gone,’ the world would look to Kendrick to keep it alive."

After 50 Cent's podcast episode went viral on X, a user named @WordDromKDot talked about 50 Cent disliking Lamar and wrote:

"When did 50 Cent start disliking Kendrick Lamar? It feels like just yesterday when Kendrick made a cameo on Power. But now, it seems like 50 goes out of his way to downplay Kendrick’s achievements and the impact he’s had on hip-hop."

The tweet garnered over 295K views on the platform, with netizens reacting to it. Some of them speculated that the older rapper believed Kendrick was getting the credit he deserved in his time.

"Kdot gets the credit that 50 feels he shouldave got back in his time. Salty" - commented an X user.
"He don’t dislike em, he do shit for clout and money. Why you think he co signed tekashi 69 couple years back. He know the fans and media emotional and he’ll get paid off of it every time." - posted another.
"Don’t forget they did a track together We Up" - added another user.

Meanwhile, others commented about 50 Cent being jealous of Lamar because of his ability to relate with the public.

"Because 50 Cent really doesn't run "Power" the lady that created the show wanted Kendrick on it!!! 50 Cent is jealous of Kendrick's connection to "REAL" people. 50 is so caught up in the fame and illusion to the point he cannot relate to everyday people like Kendrick can!" - wrote another.
"He hating. If you remember after family matters dropped.@50cent was the first goofy ass nigga that posted saying see he’s firing at all y’all. Lol MTG dropped 30 minutes later. One of the best nights in hip hop history." - read a comment.
"It’s BC 50Cent had a business plan w/ drake. Shit fell through bc of the beef. If not they just hate the west that hate the facts Kendrick on a Fire Run n can’t monetize The success." - wrote another netizen.

50 Cent supported Kendrick Lamar with his Superbowl Halftime gig

While 50 Cent's recent comment about Kendrick Lamar is being analyzed as a sign of him disliking Lamar, Cent has stood in his support in the past. In September 2024, when Lamar was announced to be headlining the upcoming Superbowl Halftime LIX show in February 2025, Cent supported the decision.

50 Cent was invited on The Talk on September 13, where he addressed the matter, saying:

"I mean, it was a choice. I think Kendrick deserves [it]. As a solo artist right now, he’s the guy."

The Superbowl discussion then pivoted to the ongoing Kendrick-Lamar fued, which the Still Will rapper believed to be good for the culture, adding:

"Both Drake and Kendrick produced quality music faster because they had to compete with each other. That competitive nature made them go work and have responses. Hip-hop is still … it’s not just a genre where you can just make a song and sit back. You have to make a song and be ready to make a song again right away with other artists."

50 Cent's response comes after many other celebrities weighed in on the decision, with some of them claiming that Lil Wayne should've been chosen for the headlining gig, considering that he also happened to be a native of New Orleans, where the show is being hosted coming year.

In 2025, Kendrick Lamar will become the first rapper to ever headline a Superbowl Halftime LIX game solo.
