Tito Jackson, one of the founding members of The Jackson 5, died on September 15, 2024, at 70. According to People Magazine, his nephew Siggy Jackson confirmed the news, and the cause of death was reported to be an apparent heart attack. Tito Jackson's sons released a statement on Instagram to announce the news of their father's death, writing:

“It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson is no longer with us. We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being.”

Before his death, Tito Jackson and his brothers Jackie and Marlon had been touring the world as The Jacksons. Their last show was in Surrey on September 8. The next show was scheduled in Atlantic City on October 25.

The Jackson 5 was started in the late 1960s with Michael, Jackie, Marlon, Jermaine and Tito Jackson. Randy Jackson later joined the band as a replacement for Jermaine in 1976, following which the band went under the moniker The Jacksons. The band is known for its hit songs I Want You Back, The Love You Save and ABC.

Jackie, Marlon, and Tito Jackson continued touring as The Jacksons. Randy Jackson and his sister Janet worked together, after the two co-founded a record label called Rhythm Nation Records. Jermaine Jackson has a successful music career that is only second to Michael among the Jackson siblings, releasing 14 solo albums.

Tito Jackson's last solo album was released in 2021

The Jackson 5 took over the music industry when they released their first album in 1969. The band lineup included Tito, Jackie, Marlon, Jermaine, and Michael, with Michael only 11 years old. The band released 10 albums when they were signed under Motown.

However, The Jackson 5 left Motown in 1975 due to various internal conflicts and joined Epic, except for Jermaine, who stayed on. Their brother Randy replaced Jermaine, and under the new branding The Jacksons, the group released six albums.

The group's final album in 1989 was titled 2300 Jackson Street. This is the band's only album without Michael and Marlon, both of whom left the group to pursue solo careers. Michael Jackson's solo music career launched him into stardom, and the King of Pop released songs till his death in 2009.

After leaving the band, Marlon Jackson, aged 67, quit music and pursued a career in real estate. He currently runs a non-profit called Study Peace Organization, which started in 2015 intending to promote peace and unity in communities worldwide.

Following the release of 2300 Jackson Street, the band went into hiatus. Randy Jackson, aged 62, started his band called Randy and the Gypsys, which broke up after releasing one album. He started Rhythm Nation Records with his sister Janet Jackson and continues working with her to this day. He also helped produce her documentary titled Janet Jackson in 2022.

Jackie Jackson, the eldest Jackson sibling started his record label, Critically Amused, in 2018. In addition to that, the 73-year-old musician also owns a furniture line. He and his brothers also participated in the reality show The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty in 2009. He continued touring along with Marlon and Tito.

Tito Jackson released two solo albums as a blues musician, the latest of which came out in 2021 titled Under Your Spell. Tito Jackson continued with both solo and group tours as The Jacksons till his death on September 15.

Jermaine Jackson's solo career saw him release 14 solo albums. The 69-year-old Grammy-nominated musician's last album, I Wish You L.O.V.E, came out in 2012. He joined his brothers Jackie, Tito, and Marlon on The Jackson's Unity Tour in 2012. This was the group's first concert in almost three decades.
