Michael Jackson's son Prince Jackson paid tribute to the King of Pop on the occasion of his 15th death anniversary. Prince was only 12 when the popstar died on June 25, 2009, at 50. Jackson suffered from a cardiac arrest because of acute propofol intoxication.
On his death anniversary on Tuesday (June 25), Prince Jackson shared an old picture of his late father from the Super Bowl XXVII in 1993. The image featured Jackson holding a child in his arms during his halftime performance at the end with multiple people around him. The caption read:
"Miss you pops. The world felt better with you in it."
Michael Jackson has three children, Prince Jackson (27), Paris Jackson (26), and Bigi Jackson (22). Prince and Bigi attended university. Paris followed in her father's footsteps to become a musician. The three children are reportedly close to each other and have supported each other since their father's demise.
Apart from Prince, the pop star's older brothers Jackie and Tito Jackson also paid their tributes to the King of Pop on his death anniversary. His nephew, TJ, also paid his respects to Michael Jackson.
Everything to know about Michael Jackson's three children: Prince, Paris and Bigi Jackson
Michael Jackson had two children, Prince and Paris Jackson, with his ex-wife, Debbie Rowe. He welcomed his youngest son, Bigi, via a surrogate. Prince and Paris were only 12 and 11 years old respectively when Jackson died in 2009, while Bigi was only 7.
After Jackson and Rowe divorced each other in 1999, the pop star got full custody of his two children. Bigi was born 3 years later, in 2002. All his children grew up at his residence, Neverland Ranch, per PEOPLE. After Jackson's death, the three children went to live with their grandmother, Katherine Jackson.
Michael "Prince" Jackson Jr.
The King of Pop's eldest son, Prince Jackson, was born in 1997 to Jackson and Rowe. Prince did not venture into the world of music like his father but pursued a university degree in business administration from Loyola Marymount University. After graduating in 2019, he worked in a multitude of professions.
Prince has starred in a few television shows, including 90210, The Jacksons: Next Generation, and Scream: The TV Series. He also established his own production company, King's Son. Apart from acting and entertainment production, Prince Jr. has also been working extensively towards causes like education, children's healthcare, and the environment.
He is the co-founder of Heal Los Angeles, which he began while pursuing his university degree. The organization works for the welfare of the people in need in LA. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Heal partnered with a meal service to provide food to those in need. Prince Jackson is also involved in the Michael Jackson Foundation.
Apart from nonprofit work and entertainment business, Prince also runs his own YouTube channel where he features some travel vlogs about his rides across California. He sometimes also reviews films along with his brother Bigi and cousin Taj.
In 2020, Prince shared with Entertainment Tonight that Michael Jackson would have been proud of the philanthropic work he's been doing. He revealed that spreading happiness and positivity was one of the late popstar's goals and he would want to continue his father's vision:
“I was very fortunate to have him as a father. I had a lot of unique experiences growing up, and what I’m trying to do with my platform and the non-profit or the charity organization is to share those experiences."
In October 2022, Prince spoke to PEOPLE about Michael Jackson and how he still thinks of his late father every day.
"I think about him every day. What I miss probably the most about him are his hands. He had really strong, really big hands. Firm, but they were gentle. It's tough to explain."
Paris Michael Katherine Jackson
Born in 1998 in Los Angeles to Jackson and Debbie, Paris Jackson is the pop star's only daughter. Her name was taken from the city where she was conceived, along with her father and grandmother's name, per PEOPLE.
She was only 11 when her father passed away. Speaking to Rolling Stone in 2018, Paris revealed that she had attempted suicide multiple times between the ages of 11 and 15. She also mentioned:
"I think a lot of it was just not knowing who I was, being a young girl and going through puberty, and probably a lot of just my situation and a lot of pressure. It was really hard, and people would tell me to kill myself every day, and I was depressed."
Michael Jackson's daughter reportedly underwent therapy and treatment for her mental health in 2019, as a source told PEOPLE. Paris Jackson followed Michael Jackson's footsteps into the world of music with the song The Lost Children, which was a part of his posthumously released album, Michael.
Until 2020, she was a part of a band called Sunflowers. In 2020, Paris Jackson released her first full-length solo album, Wilted. She has also released multiple singles, such as Just You, Lighthouse and Bandaid. The singer described her songwriting style as "acoustic folk" to PEOPLE in 2023.
She also told PEOPLE she's planning to release another full-length album as she's always in the process of writing.
"I have enough [songs] that are already recorded and ready to go that would make an album. In terms of how many [songs] I have written, I don't even know how many I have. Dozens, maybe."
Paris Jackson also works as an actress and model. She is the brand ambassador for KVD Beauty and has also appeared in shows like Sex Appeal and American Horror Story.
Jackson is also very open about her sexuality and labels herself as fluid. The singer once revealed that she "wouldn't consider herself bisexual" as she's dated beyond just men and women.
Paris is also close to her mother, Debbie Rowe, with whom she previously revealed to have reconnected when she was a teenager.
Bigi Jackson
Out of all of Michael Jackson's children, Bigi is the one to maintain the lowest profile. The late pop star welcomed his youngest son in 2002 with the help of a surrogate. At birth, Bigi was named Prince Michael Jackson II, but changed his name in 2015.
In one of his rare interviews in 2021 with Good Morning Britain, Bigi Jackson spoke extensively about climate change and revealed he would like to make a difference in the environment. He added:
"That's what each of us [siblings] want to do — make things that people enjoy but also benefit their lives. I do think it's important we all know about it [climate change]. We have some work to do but our generation knows how important it is,"
When Bigi turned 18 in 2020, he celebrated his birthday as a legal adult with his siblings, Prince, and Paris, at a restaurant. Paris shared an Instagram story for her younger brother and said,
"I used to change his diapers. this is such a trip.. proud of the handsome, intelligent, insightful, funny, and kind young man he has become. he likes privacy so that's all i gotta say. hbd lil bro."
Michael Jackson's youngest son is reportedly very close to his elder brother Prince and the two review content on the Prince's YouTube channel sometimes.
