Claims of Los Angeles-based rapper Big Sad 1900 passing away started making rounds on social media platforms on November 27, 2024. Reports of him being involved in a “police-involved shooting” also circulated online. However, the rumors turned out to be false as the singer himself took to Instagram Story to debunk the same by posting a "cap” emoji.
Big Sad, whose real name is Reggie Williams, also released an audio clip on Instagram and captioned the post, "Song: Heard the rumors."
Hip-Hop gossip X page @FlakkoPoetik was one among the many who shared an image of the rapper and wrote:
“RIP to MY greatest LA Rapper of all time Big Sad crushed the city with this one”
No Jumper's X account also reported that claims of Big Sad 1900 dying in a “police-involved shooting” as mentioned above went viral online.
For the uninitiated, music artist Big Sad 1900 released his debut single, La Cienega Heights back in 2018. The Playboy Gangster Crips member has dropped various tracks like Strap Up, Succas Mad, No Hooks, and more. He has amassed over 180,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
Big Sad 1900 is alive and well
Big Sad 1900 took to his Instagram account to share with his 76,000 followers that he is still alive. He included the “cap” emoji in an Instagram story, with the emoticon indicating that the rumors going viral are false.
No Jumper also shared a screenshot of the conversation they had with Big Sad 1900. In the same, the rapper stated, “They Cap” and “I just got up.”
YouTuber Adam22 also confirmed that the rapper is still alive. He said in a tweet:
“Another guy had a shoot out with the cops and got killed and it was falsely reported to us that it was Sad but we talked to him and he’s fine.”
Film director and long-time collaborator of Big Sad 1900, Voice2Hard, also took to his Instagram account to debunk the claims. He said in his Instagram story:
“Big Sad did not pass away I just talked to bro on the phone y’all gotta stop playin wit death for clicks & likes that ain’t straight”

Big Sad first headlined his own concert in Los Angeles at The Roxy in August 2021. A few artists he has collaborated with include Drakeo, The Ruler, Babyface Ray, Lonnie Bands, Rucci, Joe Moses, WLA Stevo, and more.
Voice2Hard has been one of Big Sad’s biggest supporters and influences thus far, as per Genius. Speaking about the rapper, Voice2Hard told Genius in 2022:
“I’ve seen him grow so much from working with local artists to seeing him work with YoungBoy, I always try to match his work ethic. He releases four videos a week and I’ll try to release four great projects a year. He’s definitely someone I am keeping around.”
According to Ghana Celebrities, Big Sad 1900 has been open about his legal troubles while also admitting to being arrested. The rapper was reportedly on the run as he had multiple standing warrants. However, the exact charges against him remained unknown at the time of writing this article.
