The phrase "Blue Sweatpants Girl" refers to a popular TikTok video that was uploaded on June 9 and featured Sophia (@laurasophiasotopr) performing the Tyla Dance to the song Pop Like This Pt. 2.

Sources like Know Your Meme said that she lives in Puerto Rico and regularly uploads videos to her social media accounts, showcasing her dancing skills. While doing so, she usually wears comfortable clothes like leggings or sweatpants. The same sources reported that she also says she's not too good at surfing, and enjoys painting as a hobby.

After going viral, she said that she had no idea how she achieved the Tyla dance look in the videos that were uploaded in both Spanish and English after her dancing video went viral, as reported by the same source.

In the clip, the fans can also see her easily gliding over the floor by moving her feet in sync with her hips and sliding them in a circular motion.

This action, along with her feet being invisible from the video, gives the impression that she is dancing while floating or sliding horizontally.

Know Your Meme further stated that following this, in just eight days, her viral dance video garnered over 78.8 million plays and 11 million likes. She was compared to Tyla in the comments by fans, with many claiming she danced better than the well-known singer.

Following the success of her 2023 hit single Water, Tyla became well-known in the South African music industry. Her characteristic dance routine for the song also gained a lot of popularity.

A week later, Laura made another video that has been viewed over four million times in the past week in response to her unexpected viral fame.
