Ryan Levert, the daughter of popular lead vocalist of The O’Jays, Eddie Levert, has tragically passed away at the age of 22. As per The RnB Talk Show, Ryan was battling lupus, an autoimmune disease that kills the healthy cells and tissues of the body.

As per the Mayo Clinic, the disease causes inflammation in different body parts like joints, skin, heart, and lungs. While the causes of lupus can be infections and even genetics, it is not clear how Ryan contracted the disease.

More details surrounding Ryan’s passing have not been revealed by the family.

As per IMDB, Eddie Levert was married to Martha Levert. The couple tied the knot in 1966 and welcomed four kids. However, their marriage did not last, and they decided to call it quits. Eddie later got married to Raquel Capelton, and the couple had one kid. As such, Eddie Levert is a father to five kids.

Eddie Levert's daughter Ryan’s passing has left the masses saddened and remembering the tragic time when his two sons, Gerald and Sean, passed away in 2006 and 2008 respectively.

As per Cleveland.com, Gerald passed away in 2006, by an accidental overdose, whereas Sean breathed his last in 2008 after he became ill at the Cuyahoga County Jail.

Furthermore, Eddie Levert has been extremely close to his kids. In a 2011 interview with Cleveland, he spoke about the loss of his sons and said:

“Spend time with those kids. At the end of the day, if something happens to them, you’re going to hurt. But you won’t have regret. I’m still grieving. I don’t think I’m ever going to get past that. I really miss them. It’s just hard. But I can’t get caught up in the fact that it wasn’t supposed to be like this, because it happened. And there was nothing I could do about it.”

Eddie Levert, born in June 1942, is best known for being the lead vocalist of The O’Jays. Eddie started producing music when he was in high school as he formed a group with his friends, called The Triumphs.

Later, the name of the group was changed to The Mascots by the Canvas King Records, who signed the band to their label.

With O’Jays, Eddie Levert released many albums like Father and Son, Something to Talk About, I Still Have It, and even Did I Make You Go Ooh.

Moreover, he also performed many times with his sons, Gerald and Sean, as they also followed the footsteps of their father and joined the world of music.

Furthermore, WBL.com stated in their report that Ryan Levert was the youngest child of the musician. Tributes and emotional messages for Ryan and the family continue to flood multiple social media platforms.
