Teenage Dutch singer Emma Kok called out Elon Musk for reposting a pro-Donald Trump video featuring her without her prior consent. The video reportedly featured a glimpse of Kok from her live performance of Voila at the beginning.
On October 28, 16-year-old Emma Kok took to X, distancing herself from the message of the video Musk had reposted on the platform. She wrote:
"A video in which I briefly appear has been posted by Elon Musk without my knowledge or consent. As I am only 16 and not involved in (American) politics I want to clarify that I distance myself from this clip and its message."
The promotional video for Donald Trump featured Dutch violinist and orchestra leader Andre Rieu and Emma Kok performing Voila at the beginning. The video reportedly hailed Trump as a superhero who would protect America. X users claimed the video was originally made by Chris Wining and reposted by Musk. Here is the original video:
Emma Kok is a 16-year-old singer and violinist who received the spotlight after Ministars (SBS6) in 2023 due to her interpretation and performance of the French song, Barbari Pravi's Voila. Popular Dutch violinist and conductor André Rieu spotted Kok for her performance and invited her to perform Voila at his concerts. Rieu and Kok have also gone on a world tour together.
The teenager's performance on Voila at Rieu's concert went viral on online, garnering over 72 million views. They have also together produced Dancing on the Stars, another song well received by the audience.

Singer Emma Kok rose to fame at an early age after famous orchestra leader and violinist Andre Rieu invited her to perform alongside him at his concert. Rieu saw Kok's performance of the French number Voila and was impressed by her talent. Riue asked Kok to accompany him and perform the same song at his annual concert at Vrijthof in Maastricht.
Emma Kok's rendition of Voila at Rieu's concert went viral online, garnering 72 million views on YouTube and over 45 million streams on Spotify. She received a diamond record award for over 50 million streams of her performance. In 2024, Andre Rieu invited Kok to go on a world tour with his Johann Strauss Orchestra.
Rieu and Kok also collaborated and produced the song Dancing on the Stars. It was composed and written by Tjeerd Oosterhuis. The performance also quickly went viral on YouTube, and Emma Kok decided to continue to tour with Rieu in 2025. Apart from Rieu's concerts, Kok has also performed her viral rendition of Voila alongside German singer Helene Fischer at her annual Christmas concerts held in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Additionally, Kok has been working with Dutch songwriter and composer Tjeerd Oosterhuis since 2012, when the 16-year-old singer won The Voice Kids in The Netherlands. The duo have been working together on new music.
Kok is also the founder of the organization Gastrostars, where she raises funds to find a cure to the disease gastroparesis. Kok herself suffers from the ailment. Gastroparesis involves stomach paralysis, alongside other physical problems such as paralyzed or slow-working intestines, as described by Kok's official website.
The United States elections are scheduled to be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
