GetItDmac was a common face in California’s Yiken movement
GetItDmac has released a series of singles and albums, with some of his popular songs being Sick Of It, Keisha, Favorite Song, Bossed Up, Don Dada, Pipe Down, and Diamonds. Per his Instagram account, he frequently threw throwback song party events in California.
According to Spotify, Dmac was "one of the biggest faces of California’s ‘Yiken’ movement." Sage the Gemini, as per Buzzfeed, was another singer pushing the dance craze into mainstream media. The publication said in 2013 that the dance style “involves dancing with a partner, shifting your weight from side-to-side.” The outlet also called it “intense twerking.”
On December 22, GetItDmac posted a video on Instagram of himself seemingly performing the dance style alongside a partner. In the video's caption, he wrote, “This is how you do the challenge, right?”
Dmac collaborated with numerous artists, including Darz, HunnitProof Boogie, Heaven Marina and Priceless Da Roc.
One of his collaborators, DJ Mike Luie, took to Instagram on December 2 to share a tributary message following Mac’s reported death.
“He Was A Great Listener And Gave Even Better Advice. I Pray For Everyone That Is Feeling This One Especially His Family And Everyone That I Have Had The Pleasure Of Being Introduced To By Him . Rest In Paradise Mac,” he wrote in the caption.
