On December 6, comedian Andrew Schulz mentioned Ice Cube's iconic diss track No Vaseline while responding to O'Shea Jackson Jr., Ice Cube's son, on X. Previously, Jackson called out Andrew Schulz for mocking Kendrick Lamar's height during an episode of the Flagrant podcast.

Released on October 29, 1991, through Lench Mod Records and Priority Records, No Vaseline is the 12th song of Ice Cube's Death Certificate (1991). In the track, Ice Cube disses his former group N.W.A.'s members Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, Yella, MC Ren, and manager Jerry Heller.

Ice Cube left N.W.A. in 1989, citing shady business practices by the band's manager, Jerry Heller. Following his departure, N.W.A. fired jabs at Ice Cube in their albums 100 Miles and Runnin‘ and N***az4Life. In response to those disses, the rapper released No Vaseline.

Furthermore, the song contains several remarks against Jerry Heller. For instance, Ice Cube raps:

"With your manager, fella," Cube raps. "F*ckin' MC Ren, Dr. Dre, and Yella. It's a case of divide and conquer, 'cause you let a Jew break up my crew."

On November 22, Kendrick Lamar released his sixth studio album, GNX. In the album's track Wacced Out Murals, the Compton rapper demanded that comedians stop trolling women of color. Although Lamar didn't take names, several netizens and hip-hop pundits seemed to think that the diss was directed at Andrew Schulz.

In the December 4 episode of the Flagrant podcast with Akaash Singh, Mark Gagnon, and AlexxMedia, Andrew Schuz criticized K Dot's alleged comments about white comedians in a clip that went viral.

Andrew Schulz asserted that Kendrick's team and other rappers couldn't sue him while also making fun of the Compton rapper's height.

"I don't think he can stop most people on the planet from having s*x with him," Schulz added.

Ice Cube's son, O'Shea Jackson Jr., didn't respond kindly to these remarks, calling Andrew Schulz "Weird a** n***a" on X. In response, Schulz implored him to look at his father's track, No Vaseline. The comedian tweeted:

"Google “No Vaseline” by Ice Cube"

Moreover, Andrew Schulz responded to Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill after the latter called Schulz out over his remarks on Kendrick Lamar. Mill wrote:

"White man saying they’ll r**e black men openly is extreme … and then say it’s just a joke .., black manhood not a joke! I seen the same guys saying I was gay on his stand up! My white friends like it’s a joke! We don’t joke like that in the black community at all!!"

Andrew Schulz responded with a previous quote of Meek Mill laughing at a joke made about his sexuality. He wrote:

"You seemed to like it."

During a May 2024 performance at the California Roots Festival in Monterey, Ice Cube stated that his 1991 track No Vaseline is the best diss track in history.

Prior to performing the song, the 55-year-old recounted instances where people had claimed that Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us, 2Pac's Hit'Em Up, or Nas' Ether were better than No Vaseline. The Los Angeles rapper explained why they didn't match up to his 1992 chart-topper.

“I love Nas, but it’s not. I love Kendrick Lamar now — maybe it’s him. I love those songs, but ‘No Vaseline’ is the best diss song in the history of hip-hop. And I’ll tell you why: One MC — myself — I took out four motherf***ers and the manager. You can’t beat that," he explained.

However, Ice Cube expressed no hate for the N.W.A. members nearly 30 years after No Vaseline's release. He added:

“But we did that over 30 years ago. So as it stands today, I ain’t got nothing but love for N.W.A.”

Upon its release, No Vaseline was met with widespread acclaim from critics, who praised its vicious lyricism. The song amassed silver certification with 200,000 certified sales in the United Kingdom. However, No Vaseline and Black Korea were removed from the United Kingdom release of Ice Cube's album Death Certificate.
