Javaughn Young-White, the father of Kehlani's daughter, has recently submitted a paternity suit and is asking for the sole custody of their daughter, Adeya Nomi. In the court documents that TMZ was able to get, Javaughn alleged that the singer had been involved in a cult for the past few years.
He further said that this has affected how she raised their 5-year-old kid. He also claimed that the cult leader is allegedly facing numerous allegations of sexual assault. He further expressed his worry that their daughter may be abused if the court doesn't step in.
Moreover, as per the court records Page Six could get, Young-White claimed that he had not received the singer's social security number for Adeya.
Javaughn Young White is a guitar player and brother of Jaboukie Young-White, who is a stand-up comedian and Daily Show reporter. Furthermore, Kehlani also claimed in an interview that her baby daddy shares the same sexual orientation as her.
Javaughn Young-White was Kehlani's guitarist and now her baby daddy
On December 5, 2022, Kehlani revealed to Essence that Javaughn Young-White, with whom she had been actively messaging on social media for months, is her guitarist. Kehlani emphasized that she and Young-White were a great match because of their same sexual orientations, in addition to calling him a caring and supporting partner.
In an interview on October 11, 2022, for Nicki Minaj's Queen Radio show, she made the same revelation and said,
"I started dating women before I ever dated men. Then I was lucky to find a partner who was a bisexual male. And he really understands my queerness and my fluidity, and I really understand his. It's very awesome to be understood."
Furthermore, Them magazine reported in their June 8, 2021, article that in an interview with the magazine, the 26-year-old singer recalled how their 2-year-old daughter Adeya Nomi's bisexual father, Javie Young-White, responded to her coming out as a lesbian.
The singer said that he was "super supportive" of her. She also stated,
"[We're] really really close friends… And the decision to start a family was really easy for us because we both believed in each other's ability to be good parents."
According to the singer, in situations when "mom and dad" would be the default, they both make sure to state "mom and mom" and "dad and dad." Young-White also does the same. They welcomed Adeya in 2019 when they were in a relationship after announcing the pregnancy in October 2018. However, they parted ways later in the same year.
Additionally, on Monday, August 5, 2024, TMZ revealed that Javaughn Young-White, who now seeks custody of their 5-year-old daughter, accused the singer of belonging to a cult.
More about Javaughn Young-White's accusations against Kehlani
Javaughn further alleged in his paternity petition that his baby's mother has been under the control of this cult leader. He states that the leader has persuaded Kehlani to believe Javaughn is a threat to Adeya, which is why she has prevented him from visiting her.
In addition, according to court records that Page Six could obtain, Young-White, who dated the After Hours singer from 2018 to 2019, also claimed that Kehlani's birth certificate did not list him as the father. This is because he believes Kehlani gave birth through a home birth orchestrated by what he described as a "cult" she is purportedly a member of.
The records further specify,
"For the past five years, I have requested a copy of Adeya's birth certificate and for my name to be added to her birth certificate to no avail."
Additionally, he stated in the document that,
".....The cult leader, who goes by the name of Neto, convinced Respondent that he had a vision that I was a danger to our daughter and would kill her, and thereafter banned Respondent from allowing me to see Adeya."
Kehlani has yet to say anything about the allegations as of yet.
