Page Six exclusively reported that Jay Z is facing r*pe allegations after an alleged victim claimed she was s*xually assaulted by the rapper and Sean “Diddy” Combs at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000. The victim is represented by Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee. As of the time of this article, Jay Z has denied the allegations in a statement.

The original complaint filed in October only listed Combs as the defendant. However, NBC News reported that the lawsuit was amended to include Jay Z.
The alleged victim (identified as Jane Doe) claimed that she was offered a drink at the New York afterparty and later went to a bedroom after feeling “woozy” and “lightheaded,” where she was reportedly r*ped by both celebrities.

At the time of the alleged incident, Jay Z, whose real name is Shawn Corey Carter, was rumored to have just met his wife and singer, Beyoncé. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2013, the Single Ladies crooner stated:
“We were friends for a year and a half before we went on any dates. We were on the phone for a year and a half, and that foundation is so important for a relationship. Just to have someone who you just like is so important, and someone [who] is honest.”
Beyoncé also told Seventeen that she was 18 years old when she met Carter, which would have been between September 1999 and August 2000.
Jay Z’s relationship history explored in light of recent allegations
Jay Z’s relationships, aside from his marriage to Beyoncé, have not been heavily discussed online. However, before dating Beyoncé, he was in a relationship with singer Blu Cantrell. As per The Richest, the two were rumored to have casually dated in the 90s. Following their breakup, Cantrell reportedly congratulated Jay Z and Beyoncé on the birth of their first daughter.
The Roc Nation founder also briefly dated lawyer Charli Baltimore in the late 90s. Initially a lawyer, she later pursued a music career. The Richest reported that she dated Notorious B.I.G. as well.
In 2000, Jay Z dated singer, writer, and actress Rosario Dawson. However, their relationship ended when he began developing a crush on Beyoncé.
Prior to dating his now-wife, Carter is also rumored to have had relationships with Aaliyah and Rachel Roy. His alleged relationship with Roy, a designer, stirred controversy online as it was rumored that he had an affair with her while married to Beyoncé.
The Richest reported that this alleged affair was likely the reason behind the infamous elevator altercation between him and Beyoncé’s sister, Solange Knowles, during the 2014 Met Gala. The rumors were seemingly confirmed by Beyoncé when she reportedly called out Roy by crooning “Becky with the good hair” in her Lemonade album.
Moreover, author Karrine Steffans claimed to have been in a relationship with Carter before he started dating Beyoncé. She admitted this in an xoJane blog column. In the 2016 article, Steffans wrote:

Jay Z responds to r*pe allegations
In a lengthy statement, Jay Z denied the “heinous” allegations made against him. The 55-year-old stated that he was heartbroken that his wife and three children, Blue Ivy, Sir, and Rumi, would have to deal with these allegations. He wrote in his statement:
“My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people.”
He further stated:
“These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”
Meanwhile, Diddy remains behind bars as he faces s*x trafficking and racketeering charges. He is expected to go to trial in May 2025.
