New York Judge Analisa Torres has granted Shawn Corey Carter, aka Jay-Z's accuser her anonymity to proceed with the case. As reported by Fox News, the woman, addressed as Jane Doe in the lawsuit, initially filed court documents to sue Diddy in October, 2024.
On December 8, the filing was amended to add Carter's name to the lawsuit, accusing him of a s*x crime that allegedly took place at the MTV VMAs afterparty in 2000. The accuser was reportedly 13 at the time.
Carter denied the allegations and filed a motion seeking dismissal of the lawsuit. His lawyers further appealed to the court to deny the accuser's request for anonymity.
Judge Analisa Torres with the Southern District of New York sided with the accuser in a ruling on Thursday, December 26. She reasoned the "highly sensitive and extremely personal" allegations brought by Jane Doe "tips in favor of allowing Plaintiff to remain anonymous, at least for this stage of the litigation".
However, according to legal documents procured by Fox News Digital, Jane Doe might be required to eventually reveal her identity if the case leads and evidence demands it.

Judge Analisa Torres condemns Jay-Z's lawyer Alex Spiro
As per Fox News, Jay-Z's attorney, Alex Spiro, previously addressed the accuser's account of the alleged r*pe:
"It's not just that this story is a lie and that it's not true, it's provably, demonstrably false."
Spiro also criticized Jane Doe's lawyer, Tony Buzbee, accusing him of extortion and misconduct. He alleged Buzbee demanded money from the plaintiff to keep Jay-Z's name redacted when she first filed the lawsuit in October this year. Alex Spiro claimed Tony Buzbee had a "track record of employing suspect tactics to gain an unfair advantage in the course of litigation".
Judge Analisa Torres, however, admonished Jay-Z's attorney Alex Spiro for his remarks about the accuser's claims on Thursday. Torres reportedly said:
"Carter's lawyer's relentless filing of combative motions containing inflammatory language and ad hominem attacks is inappropriate, a waste of judicial resources, and a tactic unlikely to benefit his client."
She further wrote, referring to the back-and-forth between Alex Spiro and Tony Buzbee:
"Moreover, although Carter's attorney assails Plaintiff's lawyer as having a 'chronic inability to follow the rules,' Carter's counsel has failed to abide by this Court's clear rules."
Torres stated the court would not make haste to settle the case on demand from the defendant's counsel. She noted that dismissal of a lawsuit of this nature is not typically endorsed unless "there is a strong reason to do so".
Torres cited Jay-Z's motion against the accuser's filing, where the rapper called Jane Doe’' claims "salacious", and "baseless", adding it does not account for a strong suit to dissolve the lawsuit.
