On Thursday, July 18, rapper 50 Cent took to Instagram and posted a video of an interview with Bill Courtney, who is an ex-NYPD detective. Courtney had investigated several hip-hop-related crimes back in the 1990s.

In the video that Cent shared, Courtney suggested he had handled his case back when the rapper was allegedly shot by the members of The Supreme Team. He added that the rapper then didn't cooperate with the law enforcement.

The rapper used this as an opportunity to hit back at his old enemies, including Kenneth "Supreme" McGriff, James Rosemond, and Damion "World" Hardy.

"See the facts always come out, I wasn't raised like that. I'm not in Preme, killer Rat a** jimmy, or World's paper work. Oh yeah all roads lead to sherevport..."

63-year-old Kenneth McGriff is a convicted gangster from New York City. McGriff became infamous back in 1981 after he formed his own cocaine and crack distribution ring.

He also had several records of getting arrested and charged. In 2007, he was sentenced to life imprisonment, after being convicted of murder conspiracy and drug trafficking. Even in 50 Cent's shooting case, feds initially claimed that Kenneth possibly planned the attack over some lyrics of the rapper, back in 2000.

50 Cent, aka Curtis Jackson, however, always claimed that he was shot by a low-level drug dealer who died in a few days.

More about the video of former detective Bill Countey's interview, as shared by 50 Cent

While mentioning that 50 Cent was shot nine times, and yet he didn't cooperate with the cops back then, ex-detective Bill Courtney said in the interview,

"I had the whole music industry investigation business locked down. I knew everybody who was talking to everybody. There was no way he cooperated..."

Courtney further spoke about the Gotti brothers- Irv Gotti and Chris Gotti and said that they thought the rapper cooperated with the cop. The former cop then added,

"And I find it funny that the guys who say he cooperated, namely the Gotti brothers [Irv and Chris], they did more stupid things to bring heat on them and heat on everybody else."

Courtney continued, stating that they messed up "with the wrong person." The former officer also added that he felt 50 was a "fighter" and "people gotta respect that."

In January 2024, the former detective revealed that he was going to start a podcast from Tulsa, where listeners could ask questions to the killers and listen to their side of the story.

In an April interview with Michael Franzese, the ex-officer claimed he had a special gift for "convincing people." He had served 30+ years in the NYPD while being undercover for a long time. He spoke about the 50 Cent shooting case, and said,

"I had the 50 Cent case where 50 Cent was shot numerous times by a gang known as the Supreme Team."

Courtney added he was in the forces at the time were crime rates were at peak in the country.

50 Cent shared posts about Murder Inc. Records music label on Instagram

Before the recent post, where 50 Cent hit back at Kenneth McGriff, he shared another post, where he mentioned Murder Inc. Records. In the post, Cent said that he was planning to create a docu-series based on the company which was formed by the Gotti brothers.

In 1987, when Kenneth McGriff's gang was at its peak, the drug receipts from only the street level touched the mark of $200,000 a day. To understand McGriff's connection with Murder Inc. Records, it would be important to know that he tried cinematography after exiting prison on parole, back in 1994.

That was when he began associating with Irv Gotti. Shortly after that, because of Kenneth's reputation in the hip-hop world back then, the feds began questioning the link between the music label and the former drug lord. This led to the federal officers raiding the offices of the music label. Then, the Times reported that the feds and the NYPD officers seized several computers and devices during the raid.

Eventually, while Kenneth was put behind bars for drug trafficking charges, several members of the music label faced money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering charges.

In 2022, a three-part documentary titled Supreme Team, was released. The documentary suggested the gang founders Kenneth McGriff and his nephew “Prince” Miller were "idolized in the Queens neighborhoods."

Last year in September, Kenneth's son claimed, as reported by HipHopDX, that he had a blood relation with rapper 50 Cent. Kenneth Jr. claimed that the rapper had a lot of similar mannerisms that his father possessed. This conversation took place in an episode of a YouTube podcast Let’s Get To That.
