Lil Xelly, a 21-year-old rapper from Rockville, Maryland was reportedly shot to death on Thursday, January 16. According to an article published by Holy Mountain on Friday, the young rapper's body was reportedly discovered after a fatal shooting outside Rockville’s Sleep Inn Hotel on January 17.

Friends and fans of the aspiring underground rapper who earned widespread recognition locally, mourned his untimely passing. Netizens took to Xelly's recent Instagram post which was shared shortly before his death and expressed their shock and devastation. Some fellow artists remembered working with Xelly and praised his talent and work ethic.

Xelly's affinity for music began at an early age, eventually driving him to start making his own melodies. He was known for his versatility, and hard work. Young listeners resonated with Lil Xelly's music, which often reflected the rapper's life and experiences.

In an interview with The Fader, published on February 11, 2019, Xelly shared that he began making music in middle school and shared the tapes on tapes on Spinrilla. However, the platform did not bring him any audience. Xelly then moved to SoundCloud which led him to be discovered by many.

Xelly was asked about putting out music at an "absurd pace", to which he answered:

"I got hella fans who want to hear hella sh*t by me. They want me to be consistent and it’s inspiring people at the same time, so why not?"

Lil Xelly put out over 100 songs in a 2017 mixtape titled More Xelly. As he gained more fans with the initial release, the rapper went on to make more albums. Eventually, his more popular works Final Fantasy 2 (2019), Lil Xelly the Mixtape (2019), Side Effects (2020), Xelly's World 2 (2020), Xxxrtified 2 (2020), and xelly & friends (2022) followed.

The rapper has more than 19K monthly listeners on Spotify and over 14K followers on SoundCloud. He also boasts around 4.2K subscribers on YouTube where he shared his music videos.


Lil Xelly reportedly dead in a supposed double homicide in Rockville

During a routine patrol around 3:16 a.m. on Friday, Montgomery County Police noticed a white BMW with bullet holes at the Research Boulevard and Shady Grove Road's intersection. As the vehicle's condition raised their suspicion, the officers moved to inspect the car and found the body of an adult male inside.

As reported by The MoCo Show on January 17, the MCPD reportedly found another dead body of an adult female on Friday, around 7:40 a.m. The second corpse was discovered in the parking lot along 2 Research Court.

Upon further investigation, MCPD detectives inferred the two deaths were connected and suspected an individual named Kaloyan Dimov Stoev, 25, as the perpetrator. Stoev was taken into custody around 12:00 p.m. on Friday.

The deceased individuals were taken to Baltimore's Chief Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy to have their official cause of death determined. Although police are yet to disclose the victims' names, Holy Mountain reported Lil Xelly was the one found in the BMW.
