Recently, celebrity lawyer Tony Buzbee sued Jay-Z's entertainment firm, Roc Nation, and two of its attorneys, Marcy Croft and Quinn Emanuel. As per Newsweek’s December 17 report, Tony Buzbee alleged that they were plotting to turn his clients against him. He further said that they are reportedly breaking several state laws, such as battery and impersonating Texas officials.

Buzbee also charged the same Roc Nation attorneys for allegedly planning a plot to offer his clients money in exchange for suing his firm. He then claimed that they did this to prevent the Buzbee Law Firm from bringing legal action against Jay-Z.

Additionally, he also said that Croft was allegedly captured on an audio recording detailing the scheme in great detail. According to the same reports, Buzbee added that some former clients had allegedly already agreed to pay to participate in the scheme.

Celebrity attorney Marcy Croft is famous for handling complicated cases involving unfair commercial practices, mass torts, product liability, personal damage, and criminal justice. She has been reportedly doing that for more than 25 years.

Marcy has held positions as a national, regional, and local council for numerous companies that deal with occupational and environmental risks. The lawyer has consistently received an AV Preeminent rating and was listed on Benchmark Litigation's first list of the Top 250 Female Litigators in America.

Additionally, she recently received recognition from the Women Mid-South Super Lawyers and Top 50: Mississippi Super Lawyers awards. Additionally, she is on the Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers maintained by Martindale-Hubbell.

During the 2020 pandemic, Marcy has also actively participated in prison and criminal justice reform with Team Roc, Roc Nation's charitable arm. The National Trial Lawyers Association further named the Roc Nation lawyer as one of the Top 10 attorneys.

On the other hand, Marcy Croft most recently spoke about the ongoing circumstances at Parchman Prison in Mississippi in the Louder than a Riot season one finale on National Public Radio. At her former company, she oversaw the Fraud, Investigation, and Internal Auditing division.

In the case of mass tort litigation, she was a trendsetter in the application of auditing and investigation procedures. She also discovered and revealed wrongdoing that resulted in millions of dollars in savings and relief for her clients.

Additionally, Croft represented over 40 multinational business defendants as counsel of record. When her company spearheaded the assault against screening-related fraud in that court, she served as the defense liaison's coordinating counsel and secured over 100,000 dismissals for her clients.

Most notably, the Roc Nation lawyer, who is also the primary Mississippi attorney, won a retrial defense verdict. This happened after her team discovered an unreported conflict of interest, which led the Mississippi Supreme Court to overturn a $322 million verdict.

Furthermore, Marcy also protects civil freedoms in addition to handling and litigating complicated cases. She has also volunteered with the Mississippi chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union and has been active in promoting women's rights to equal pay and autonomy.

Now, she has been in the news since Buzbee announced the lawsuit in a statement on Wednesday morning, December 17. According to the same-day report from All Hiphop, Buzbee wrote:

“Today The Buzbee Law Firm filed suit against Roc Nation, and lawyers Marcy Croft, and Quinn Emanuel for violation of various state laws, including barratry and impersonation of a public official.”

Buzbee continued:

“The case was brought on behalf of a former client of the firm who was illegally solicited by agents working on behalf of the Defendants. These agents pretended to [work] for the State of Texas and offered the former client money to sue the Buzbee Law Firm.”

According to the lawyer, this allegedly happened "more than two dozen times," and led to "two utterly frivolous cases" against the Buzbee Law Firm.

On the other hand, following these allegations, Jay-Z and Roc Nation have not said anything on the issue.
