More about Black Hippy as Kendrick Lamar’s concert surprise goes viral online

Black Hippy was signed to the famous Top Dawg Entertainment music label. The hip-hop supergroup never created albums together. However, the members have frequently collaborated.

A few songs they have worked on together include Schoolboy Q’s Try Me, Jay Rock’s TDE Roll Call, Ab Soul’s Constipation, and That Part (Black Hippy Remix).

The group publicly disbanded in February 2022. Speaking about the same, Top Dog Entertainment’s president, Terrance “Punch” Henderson, stated that Kendrick Lamar’s departure from the group signaled an end to the team’s union.

“We definitely wanted to do a Black Hippy album. The timing never really panned out. When one guy would be recording his album, another guy would be on tour. Everybody was never in the same timeframe. So we didn’t want to hold back we wanted to keep going and just push further into their individual careers,” Punch said.

Furthermore, Schoolboy Q seemingly confirmed that the group would never reunite. He said on The Danny Brown Show in the past,

“I’m not making no Black Hippy sh*t. Hell no. I’ll never do that sh*t.”

Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar’s latest performance garnered immense traction as he opened the show with his Drake-diss track Euphoria, which included a change in the lyrics.
