Rapper Trae Tha Truth recently took to social media to accuse his six-year-old daughter's mother of kidnapping her. On December 5, 2024, the Houston rapper uploaded a long statement on Instagram, claiming his child's mother, Heather Cuevas, allegedly abducted their daughter four months ago.
In the post, the rapper recounted leaving his daughter Truth with her mother on August 16 for her "first visitation" after winning full custody of his daughter this year. He alleged his daughter was supposed to return on August 18, but he never saw her again.
"Im Crushed, I neva thought my Daughter Truth would be in a missing childrens Database or on a poster… My child been missing For almost 4months after her mom came to houston and Took Her… It took everything in me to post this.. I waited prayin she would do right And Bring her back and it never happened..," the rapper wrote on Instagram.
He added that the US Marshals were reportedly involved in the search for his daughter, but “they could be doing more.”
Trae Tha Truth claimed Heather Cuevas was allegedly manipulating their daughter
In the Instagram post, Trae Tha Truth claimed his daughter's mother was allegedly manipulating the child and turning her against him. He also alleged Heather Cuevas of fabricating lies, including claims of trying to harm his daughter, assault, and s*xual abuse to gain custody of the child.
In his statement on Instagram, the rapper alleged he had been following Heather Cuevas across six cities as she tried to get custody of their daughter. In the same post, he also claimed his daughter was currently homeless and not in school, adding that "Truancy People" had contacted him about his daughter being absent from school.
Trae Tha Truth also vowed never to stop fighting for his child, saying the ensuing stress has left him unable to "eat, function or work musically." He added in the post that he had allegedly been blocked from Truth's iPad and could not contact her.
He also pointed out the double standards involved in the situation, claiming he would have been severely condemned had the roles been reversed.
"If the shoes was reversed i would’ve been under a jail. This aint Right Or Fair for fathers who really trying…. I DONT CARE WHO SHE PAY OR TRY TO GET TO CAMPAIGN OR BASH ME, Im only trying to Get my daughter who i Love Dearly!!" he wrote in the post's caption.
Trae Tha Truth concluded his post by adding a photo of Heather Cuevas and his daughter, with phone numbers to contact him or the authorities if the mother and child were spotted in public. He cautioned people not to approach them if they saw them, instead asking people to call him with the information.
Trae Tha Truth and Heather Cuevas were involved in a lawsuit in 2022
According to All HipHop, Heather Cuevas and Trae Tha Truth, whose real name is Frazier Othel Thompson III, were involved in a legal battle after Cuevas filed a defamation lawsuit against the rapper in February 2022.
The lawsuit was "dismissed with prejudice" by Cuevas' lawyers in June of that year. According to the suit, Cuevas accused Trae Tha Truth of "aggressive behavior, physical abuse, emotional abuse, and harassment," which the rapper denied.
“Thompson’s fans have since threatened Cuevas’ life. While all of his other social media posts get very little engagement, Thompson’s attacks on Cuevas have drawn five to six times the number of responses," the lawsuit claimed.
It is unknown whether a settlement was reached between the two parties before the suit was dropped.
