Kendrick Lamar released the music video for his hit Drake-diss track Not Like Us on July 4, 2024. As the video garnered multi-million views online, many noted that it featured numerous Compton, Los Angeles hit spots, including the iconic Tam’s Burgers 21.

At the 2:03 mark of the music video, one could notice Kendrick Lamar and DJ Mustard walk into the iconic Compton fast food joint. This is not the first time K. Dot has featured Tam’s Burgers 21 in his music. The restaurant also made an appearance in his song Element.

For those uninitiated, Tam’s Burgers is owned by Greek-American Spiro Vovos. The establishment opened over 50 years ago.

Many were aware that the restaurant would likely be featured in the Not Like Us music video, as the singer was spotted filming outside the eatery in June. Tam’s Burgers 21, which was founded by Kostas Vovos, has become a Los Angeles County essential. The Vovos decided to keep the business in their family. It is now owned by Kostas’ grandson, Spiro.

The restaurant has been visited by numerous iconic rappers, including Doctor Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Kendrick Lamar himself.

In February 2022, the restaurant took center stage during Super Bowl LVI. It was featured as a part of Snoop Dogg and Doctor Dre’s two-story halftime show set. In an interview with the Greek Reporter on February 23, 2022, Spiro revealed that Doctor Dre’s agent contacted him about the restaurant being featured in the halftime show. Spiro said:

“The best word that keeps coming to mind is it’s a blessing. It’s a very blessed restaurant and people love coming here.”

Speaking about the Super Bowl feature, co-owner of the restaurant, Alejandro Corona, also exclusively told Fox 11 in February 2022:

“It’s exciting. Especially seeing the people I grew up [listening to] Eminem, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent…it's exciting. Having those people represent a big part of my life at work is amazing.”

The Not Like Us music video was released after Kendrick Lamar’s Pop Out concert, which took place in Inglewood, California. The video for the hit track included several cameos, including Tommy the Clown, the Compton Courthouse, where Kendrick shot one of his older music videos, and also a huge owl motif that was reportedly aimed at Drake’s OVO label.

Kendrick Lamar’s family, including his son Enoch— who Drake claimed is not the biological son of K. Dot— alongside K. Dot’s partner Whitney Ford and their other child, also made an appearance.

The song that reached the first spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart was also performed by K. Dot six times at his Pop Out concert. K. Dot brought out numerous musicians during his show, including Dr. Dre, YG, Tyler the Creator, Schoolboy Q, and more.
