“Perry’s frustration had been mounting, night after night, he felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band.”

The statement came after Perry and Dave Navarro got into a brawl during their Boston show. While performing, Perry reportedly punched Navarro before being restrained by the stagehands.

Farrell met his wife, Etty Lau Farrell while they were on tour with Jane's Addiction. She was a backup dancer during the 1997 tour. They married in 2002 and have two children, Hezron and Izzadore Farrell.

Etty Lau Farrell is a Chinese-American actress, dancer, and vocalist. She started her career in entertainment in Los Angeles, appearing in several music videos and nationally televised award programs. Farrell was also a member of the original Pussycat Dolls.

She met Perry Farrell in 1997 while touring with Jane's Addiction on the It's My Party Tour, later known as the Relapse Tour. Together with Perry, she launched Satellite Party in 2005, marking her first significant musical endeavor.

Since 1997, Etty has participated in every Jane's Addiction tour. These include the Jubilee Tour in 2001, the Strays tour that preceded the 2003 Lollapalooza tour, The Great Escape Artist tour in 2011, Detour in 2015, and the Sterling Spoon Anniversary Tour in 2016.

Furthermore, Farrell's vocals were used on the Twilight soundtrack in 2008. She also appeared in the 2010 season of Married to Rock, an E! network television series.

She admitted that "the magic that made the band so dynamic" was "the tension and animosity between the members.”

She further wrote,

“Well, the dynamite was lit. Perry got up in Dave’s face and body checked him.”

She also mentioned in her post that her husband was irritated with the loudness of the stage. She said he had been experiencing tinnitus and a sore throat every night and felt that the band was drowning out his voice.

Farrell further claimed that by placing Perry Farrell in a headlock and striking him in the stomach, bassist Eric Avery intensified the altercation. The post came after fans uploaded a widely shared video as evidence of Farrell pushing Navarro and punching him before staff personnel and Avery broke up the altercation.
